Passible mini lathe use it accordingly
TIR is .0005 on the spindle, tested after 1/2 hour of run time. Measurements were at location points three 1. From the face of the spindle. 2 from the 6 o'clock position of the thru hole at the rear of the spindle 3 from the 12 o'clock position on the outside edge of the spindle. the three jaw self-centering chuck TIR is .002. So the 3-jaw needs some work. The 4 jaws independent TIR is .00015 which brings the TIR combined to.00065 this is totally fine for a mini lathe. Now for the negatives The Shipping box while sturdy was insufficient to protect the mini lathe. The steady rests were not secured and they broke the Lathe safety shield. In addition the steady rests had bent adjusting hardware and seemed to come from another lathe. The tailstock is adequate but just barely. This needs improvement on machining as it does not fit flush on the V-Notch of the Bed. This could have been avoided and they could have made it a compound tail stock so as not to put the adjustment on the bottom which necessitates total removal in order to center it to the headstock. Tooling and supplied accessories to include gears. The tooling is fine, and you can use Sandvik-Cormorant, Kennametal, or Kodiak inserts. The 4-way tool post can use some finished work. It is adequate though rough looking. The quick change would be better suited if it was a steel Quick change, not aluminum. It is fine for soft metals such as Brass260 and 4150CMV. I did use the lathe to change a profile on a new M4/AR Barrel that was causing some issues with gas block fitment. The quick change held up to fit. The dial calipers are metric and are .02mm The outside micrometers are metric .001 graduations The light will need a better 18650 battery The plastic gears are best changed out to the steel set that the manufacturer VEVOR sells. These plastic ones have not cracked yet. The lathe does both metric and imperial threading. I use it for 1/2X28tpi and 5/8X24tpi. The splash plate can use some width and depth modifications as it interferes with the compound rest/slide and the tailstock locking lever. If you are machining 304 do not use the quick change use the 4-way until you find a steel quick change. also, divide your standard cut depth by half of what your calculations tell you. Do not use any of the Assort fixtures as their QA/QC and fitment is inconsistent, missing parts and are made poorly. Nor will they fit this lathe correctly. Believe me, I tried but without the correct hardware which will most assuredly be missing, you just have a lump of steel. Get what you need from littlemachineshop.com The drive motor can be replaced with a 700w one. Alternatively, you can buy a Baldor motor plate and get creative, and use a separate VFD 1hp Motor. You will have to make your own belt drive for the new motor along with an external VFD as well as reroute the belt but hey this is what I do for a living I make things. the three-star could have been a 4 but the shipping and the tailstock/dead center is marginal fitment. Used within its parameters this is an okay lathe for screw cutting and general lathe work of stock .750 or less you can fit .813" just fine or slightly more if you remove the spindle and run a boring bar through the spindle to get .830" Materials I have used in this evaluation Brass260 Bronze Stainless 304 Aluminium 7075T6 Steel 4150Cmv Steel Mn65 SS410 SS416 The purposes this lathe will fulfill. Light duty and small part fabrication Small boring operations under 1/2 inch metric up to 12mm (any diameter larger induces a strain on the motor). Threading operations Brass up to .750 SS304 up to .500 4150 up to .625 Aluminum up to.500 SS416/R 17-4PH also.500 Expect to make many passes. Turning operations The dimensional numbers above apply here as well I hope this review clears up any misconception about what this lathe can or cannot do. This is a light-duty lathe. I would recommend this if used in accordance with what I listed. if you are not making small parts then I would suggest a larger lathe with a 29-32 inch bed and a spindle bore of 1.5 inches or 38.1mm. STAR ratings I give it 4 stars for the TIR of the spindle and 4-jaw supplied this rating is not indicative of others as it seems hit or miss with the current QA/QC I give it 3 stars for the tailstock and the 3-jaw chuck, the steady rests, the light as well as the backsplash interference, and finally the nylon/Delrin gears The lathe should come with a discount coupon for purchasing upgraded steel gears. Also, the swing over is 1/2 of what they list this may be enough to swing a 2-star if an advertisement is rated on a star system.

Great Machine
I'm a greenhorn to metal working but so far this machine has done everything I've asked it to as I began my education. This includes working with higher grade steel. It could use a bit more power and some markings or such that let you know your rpms. I haven't figured out the gears yet as there is no manual which probably doesn't impact an experienced machinist but a noob like me could definitely use one. Thank goodness for online videos. Definitely worth the money.

Broken protective shield, slow shipping
Item arrived in perfect condition (from the outside), well packaged and undamaged. Shipping took quite a bit longer than estimated upon ordering, but that is to be expected. The protective plastic shield however was shattered (which seems to be the trend with these mini lathes). I suspect they should remove the shield for shipping Other than that, needed some adjustment out of the box, but works as expected otherwise. For those looking on how to install the quick change toolpost (does not come attached), there will be a little locating pin underneath the turret tool holder. It simply pulls straight out (spring underneath), don't spend an hour fiddling with unscrewing it, disassembling the cross slide, filing it down, etc like I did!

Updated
**Update from previous post. After finally contacting the manufacturer through their web site, they referred me back to amazon saying that they do not have replacement parts. Amazon agreed to send me a replacement lathe. Item arrived with damage to the shipping crate and control box. It was bent but the lathe seemed to run ok and the controls worked. Appeared to be just cosmetic. Nothing on this machine is adjusted properly. The compound slide has way too much play and needs major adjustment out of the box. Once I had everything adjusted and started using the machine It only lasted about 30 minutes before the motor quit. Burning smell from the motor and control box. Chuck spins freely by hand so nothing is binding to cause motor to overheat. Contacted Amazon for a resolution and was told to return. Problem is the crate that it was delivered in is damaged beyond repair. Amazon customer service said they can not supply a shipping crate and told me to put it in a cardboard box. That simply will not work with a 100 pound piece of heavy equipment like this. I decided to try and contact the manufacturer to get a warranty replacement motor but every message sent to them through Amazon is returned saying "We are sorry to let you know that your email to Mophorn - Amazon Marketplace cannot be delivered because the order it is in regards to is either invalid or not between you and the recipient. We apologize for the inconvenience." Looks like I am out of options and $550. Very disappointed. Do not buy this machine.

Great Little Lathe
It’s not perfect but it was perfect for what I need. I suggest taking apart each moving part and re-assembling to make sure all bed ways are secure and no slack. If you do this just right you can achieve .001” tolerances. I suggest re-centering your tailstock and inserting set screws that are included but not obviously marked for tailstock. I suggest buying an accurate yet affordable DRO for your carriage. I bought mine here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08LB5W41R?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image. It fit perfectly once i removed the chip guard. I 3d printed a part to fit around the head of a screw behind the carriage. This piece was glued to the slide on the DRO (see photos). Installing only took 2 screws and it allows me to get .001” tolerance along the carriage. Also note you need to properly ground the machine. If you do not have a metal table then you will need to splice the ground wire inside the machine and ground it properly. All in all if you do these few things you can really maximize your efforts on your lathe. Great little machine!
