> Genuine Microplane---NOT for big hands
GENUINE OR FAKE? I was cautious about purchasing this items because many previous older reviews reported that the gloves were some off-brand, not Microplane. However, the packaging and a label sewn to the glove bears the Microplane logo, so I presume that Amazon has fixed the supplier problem, and these are genuine. Caveat, according to the label "Made in China". FIT Size: According to the Amazon description "one size fits all", which usually means, "it may fit" if you are a "medium"-whatever. In this case, the backside of the packaging says "Size M/L" which I presume means "medium to large". Maybe "medium to large" children's hands. I'd describe the glove as medium-small. I am a guy with slightly smaller-than-average size hands. The glove fits my hand quite snugly---it takes a bit of effort to work it on. Snug is much better than loose for this purpose---it means a secure grip. The glove fits my wife's slightly smaller hand well. Right / Left: Fits right or left hand---because it is a "flat" design, i.e., it does not perfectly fit either hand. Stretchiness is supposed to make up the difference, and does, fairly well. Nevertheless, if I were wearing the glove all-day long, I'd prefer a true right-hand or left-hand glove. Bulkiness: From other reviews, I was concerned that the glove would be bulky. It is a knit glove, so some bulkiness is inevitable, but the bulkiness is minimal. (Knit is good, it means no bulky seams inside the fingers). However, knit also means that theads can snag and pull, and if cut, can leave holes. So you need to be cautions with "snaggy" surfaces, including mandolins with upright cross-cut blades. USE It is significant that the glove is sold by Microplane, which otherwise is a grater/zester manufacturer. When I bought the glove, I investigated Microplane, and was impressed with the rave reviews. I needed a good zester, and so, I bought a Microplane.Microplane 40020 Classic Zester/Grater It is TERRIFIC, and sharp as a razor. Before using it, I couldn't imagine why one would need a cutting glove to zest a lemon. Well, maybe not zesting a lemon, but if you use it to grate nutmeg or garlic, you'll need to be VERY careful, or use the glove. If you are a cook, or there is a cook in your life, there is no better $15 gift than a Microplane grater or zester. So far, I haven't tried the glove with my mandolin---but then, I haven't been cut for 5 years (without a glove) using the mandolin---so I do not expect to be in a position to report on its effectiveness soon. > Click on “Stoney” just below the product title to see my other reviews, or leave a comment to ask a question.

Made in China
I purchased the glove because the description says it's made in USA. And the item that I received shows made in China. I'm not against China made products but the inaccurate description concerns me.

Needed for thin slicing
After cutting my thumb and a couple fingers numerous times, I decided that I needed this glove. However, I find that it is not something that I can use ALL the time. Once I've finished a dish or meal while using the glove, it often needs to be washed, which takes it out of commission for a bit. Maybe I just require more gloves. Like other reviewers, I find the fit a little odd and there is space at the ends of my fingers that can create some problems, getting in the way and creating unnecessary wear. I still would recommend it for any of those thin slicing jobs that you have. It's better than a badly cut finger.

Well made and good protection.
It has a comfortable fit and I believe it can help prevent a serious injury when using sharp cutlery.

Saves your fingers
I decided to pick this up since I've nicked my fingers a couple times over the years, especially when using a mandolin to precisely and consistently slice. Used this for the fist time wile slicing beets on the mandolin and it definitely saved my thumb from a couple nasty cuts. I wore a rubber glove over this glove to avoid staining, and when I was done there were some very evident cuts in the rubber glove but my had was completely unscathed. I'm not saying I'd recommend intentionally trying to cut yourself while wearing this glove, nor would I advocate not paying full attention to what you're doing, but this will definitely help avoid minor nicks and cuts due to accidental slips.

Now I can confidently and safely use my mandoline again.
I heard about these cut resistant gloves, researched and settled on getting the Microplane based upon the recommendation of a leading cooking magazine. I have an old Bron French made mandoline that I long stored away after trying to use it and nearly cutting myself with it. Now with this glove (sold each and not a pair) I'm motivated to try other types of cuts with my mandoline. Yes, I could use my food processor (better for large amounts) but a mandoline is better for smaller portions. I can also use this glove when I'm using my grating bowl, box grater, and mini mandolins or if I need, even Microplane graters. When I tried buying this glove the first time, I did it though a "Fulfilled by Amazon" merchant. I'm guessing that the company gave Amazon the wrong gloves to "fulfill": the package did not say "Microplane" and they were gloves made in China. While that glove appears to also have a tight weave they weren't the Microplane I ordered. So beware when ordering. PROS: The tight weave should provide better protection against cuts (when compared with other cut resistant gloves). The glove is Made in The USA. CONS It will not protect again punctures.

A Necessity for Mandoline Slicing
If you own a mandoline slicer, you need these gloves! Long story short, about ten years ago, I got a new mandoline, and promptly sliced a bit of my ring finger off. I bought these gloves and had no more problems. After many moves and uses, I donated the mandoline and gloves; but I recently decided I would use another mandoline. So, I stupidly bought one without the gloves, and the third time I used it... my thumb got the brunt of the blade. Oooff! Rookie mistake. These gloves fit comfortably (I am a woman with long fingers), and they have enough flexibility to let you work easily with the vegetables that are being sliced. They do stain a bit and take on the color of brightly-colored veggies (I'm looking at you, carrots), but it's not a problem for me. In short, don't be like me. Get these gloves before you slice into your fingers not once... but twice!

Keeps me from cutting my fingers!
This glove protects my fingers from cuts. I'm left handed so I wear it on my right hand. I also wear a non latex glove over it so it stays dry.

Protects fingers
I use this glove when I am using my mandoline. On top of being very careful and alert, the glove is an extra protection for my mindset. Good to have.

Performs well
I recently realised the importance of maintaining the integrity of ones fingertips when I inadvertently almost removed the tip of my left forefinger with a pair of newly sharpened secateurs. After applying pressure, I plunged the aforesaid digit into a pot of styptic powder reserved for stemming the flow of blood should I cut into the quick when trimming my dogs’ claws. My dear husband, who loves a lie in on a Sunday morning, found he had to rush his breakfast so he could take me into the local A&E. Though he is a doctor (psychiatrist) he is not good with gore so there was no point asking him to dress it. Despite being in the middle of the Covid epidemic, I was seen very quickly and my wound was treated carefully, methodically, efficiently and painlessly by a lovely guy whose name I didn’t quite catch. I was in and out in an hour! I now had a large dressing on my finger. Fortunately, I am right handed, so I was still able to wear the microplane glove on my right hand. The fingers are quite long, but I slide them down until my fingers reach the tips. I grate carrots for my salad every day and they grip really well and always use them. However, I felt unable to review them as they had never been put to the test....until a few days ago when I was grating an oddly shaped carrot. It was the vegetable equivalent of a keep fit fanatic who skips leg day at the gym: all muscles at the top and skinny below the waist. My box grater has seen quite a bit of use and perhaps is isn’t quite as sharp as it used to be so the inevitable happened - the carrot broke in the middle, the bottom bit went flying to be expertly fielded by one of my dogs patiently waiting for such an event and my gloved finger hit the grater. Despite the impact, both finger and glove remained intact. I was so impressed with how well it performed that I was sufficiently distracted to accidentally grate the same finger. Again, the glove did it’s job. So please think of the NHS and purchase this glove!

My Protective Hand!
I was slicing away with my mandolin when I sliced the tip of my third finger, which bled profusely and didn't stop so I ended up in Casualty having it steristripped and dressed. Living alone in these situations is very stressful. I decided therefore to find a protective glove when I'm using graters/mandolins again, although I'm reluctant to right now after this accident! I haven't tried and tested it so far but it looks robust and adequate I hope at protecting ones fingers and hand from injury. My review to date is not really very helpful. I will review here again when it's been tried and tested!

cool glove
This glove is pretty cool. It fits well and is comfy. I've only used it a few times but it does keep me from getting cut and makes slicing a lot faster. It seems a little thin though so I'm not sure how long it will last, but the price was reasonably.
