Fantastic under a custom wrist protector cast
Broke my wrist :( I have a custom (removable) plastic wrist protector “cast”. The doc gave me the sock-type protector with the thumb hole. Worked great the first day. I like this product way better. Feels light and comfortable. Massive box so I can change frequently. Highly recommended! Note: If you have big arms, get 4”. If you have normal arms, get smaller size. If you are looking for any sort of compression, which some complainers seem to be seeking, this is the wrong product.

The Actual Measurements
This Medline #4 tubular covering comes in a giant roll, 4 inches wide before cutting. The circumference of my leg below the knee, i.e. the calf, is 13 inches. On my calf, the tube is neither loose enough to fall off, nor tight enough to remain secure, i.e. no elasticity whatever. if you stretch it out it stays stretched. Assuming it was cotton, I tried to shrink it in the dryer, but it's polyester and it didn't. So I'll have to cut a section lengthwise as it if were a piece of gauze, stretch it around my leg and secure it with that white medical adhesive tape. Incidentally, that medical tape is so sticky you can hardly get it off, and is incredibly versatile for securing or repairing anything made of cloth. I also bought some real elastic tubular netting to secure wounds, but I wanted the cloth type, so I can also use both together. • • • UPDATE: Experience shows this tubular T-shirt material is even better than gauze (speaking as a user, not a medical professional). Laterally it stretches up to 21 inches, without fraying or tearing, and works perfectly with that grippy medical tape. I'm very happy that my ignorance became a great discovery.

Not cotton
Beware! These are made of polyester, not cotton. They do not return to original size & will slide off skin if there is not another layer of wrapping on top. They do return to original size after washing and still feel good on your skin

Convenient, Good Value
I broke both ankles and needed stockinettes to cover surgical bandages while in CAM boots and braces while recuperating. This roll was convenient as I could cut off whatever length I needed. I was also able to machine wash/dry the stockinettes several times with no problem, so a roll could last a long time. (Of course, you don't need to launder them if you don't want to, and you'd still have plenty left.) The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the material is very stretchy. In my case, this meant the stockinettes moved around, bunched up, rolled down, etc., which was annoying and uncomfortable. It would have helped somewhat if I'd sewn the toes shut, but I was staying with a relative and didn't have easy access to sewing materials even if I felt like bothering (which I didn't). All in all, this roll was convenient, nice quality, and good value, but shy of excellent. I'd still recommend it with a caveat.

Works as we hoped!
I purchased this for a broken ankle while I have to wear a boot for the next 6-8 weeks. It works great as a barrier between my incisions and the boot. My leg is more on the average size and I probably should have bought a smaller size because the 4 inch tubing stretches out a little more than I like.

Great stockinette
This is really a good option for people who must use compression wraps on their legs. It covers the wraps while giving a smooth cotton surface that doesn’t stick to anything, like the Coban wrap does. It comes in a roll so you can cut the exact length that you need.

Home Caregivers- this will change your life!
My husband was sent home wearing a stockinette over his bandage after foot surgery. We were told to keep his foot clean and dry and I wondered why we weren’t given a few lengths of replacement stockinette. I was pleased to find I was able to purchase a roll on Amazon. But, since then I’ve discovered the stockinette can be used in many ways in caring for my Mom as she battles dementia. A length of stockinette can be used on any part of her arms, legs or feet. I keep a portion around each knee/upper thigh and it eliminates the chance of any chafing when being lifted up and down in the Sit to Stand from her wheelchair or bedside commode. At night, I place a length of stockinette around each of her elbows and heels to eliminate friction when she moves in bed. The stockinettes are lightweight, soft and non-irritating and Mom isn’t even aware she is wearing them. They are disposable so no additional laundry. I always keep a box on hand.

No compression
I’m a big man and these are so loose that they are not a bit useful. No compression at all. I could slide them up to my thighs. Great for a mummy costume.

Great option
I've been using this after breaking my ankle and having surgery. It's really nice to use these around the house in my air cast rather than the tube socks, since it's a lighter material. They're not quite as snug to start as the ones I got from the hospital and seem to stretch out a bit faster, but I have no regrets purchasing this and would definitely recommend it.

Soft but WAY too stretchy.
I recently had some knee surgery and woke to find a similar wrap on my knee in recovery. I found that it fit so nicely that I would prefer it under my brace that any of the other products out there. So I went on Amazon hoping to find a replacement for the one I was given. This looks similar but the maerial is WAY TOO stretchy. I am not even sure what limb this could easily go on as it seemed to stretch up to 6-8 inches without difficulty. Very frustrating when the website doesn't provide any assistance in terms of sizing.
