Now I Can Afford Cold Brew Coffee

I absolutely love this. I have avoided cold brew because of the cost even though I love the flavor. This pitcher is perfect. The rest of my family like a hot cup of coffee, so the amount this pitcher makes is perfect for just me. It makes about 3 servings, it's easy to clean and I really enjoy it. If you want a special treat, use Starbucks whole bean coffee and grind it fresh. I have not tried ground coffee in this, but several reviews have mentioned that you can use it without having grounds in the coffee.

Incredible and simple to use

I love this cold brew maker! I had been using a Keurig and just throwing a bunch of ice in to make my iced coffee previously, and this has been such an upgrade. Many people are saying they have dry grounds but I haven't had that issue yet! The instructions do specifically say to shake the bottle and lay it on its side in the fridge. Once I make a new batch and pour the water in, I shake it and the water instantly turns a dark brown and I don't lay it on its side, and I've always had good strong coffee with no dry grounds! The flavor is super strong. I drink a LOT of coffee so the size isn't large enough for me, but I bought another large glass jar so I can make several batches and never run out while this is in the dishwasher. The mesh is very fine, so even though it recommends using course ground coffee I just use fine ground with no issues. I am no coffee connoisseur (I just like my caffeine) so I can't comment on if that makes a difference for taste.

For the busy person who loves coffee

I used to brew my cold brew by the cup, since purchasing this I have saved myself so much time & effort- not to mention money doing it at home as supposed to Starbucks. When I’m low on the cold brew I just refill it in the afternoon & it’s ready to use by the next morning. I think along with this, I paid an extra $20 for the coffee grounds, caramel sauce, & creamer and I can make my exact Starbucks order in my house for a fraction of the cost. 10/10 recommend!

Highly Effective

I have used this product for over a year now and continue to be very impressed. So much that I felt the need to add this review as I sip on an Iced Coffee that I just poured! It makes excellent Cold Brew coffee and is easy to use and store in the fridge. It comes apart easily for cleaning, and overall is a quality product. Given the expense of purchasing iced coffee out and about this is a no-brainer purchase.

Everything you need to know and differences from the iced tea maker

I purchased both this and the iced tea maker as a way to make my own beverages at home and save some money as well. They are both great products and you might be wondering if they are different at all. First of all, this product works great. Like all Japanese products, it feels high-quality. It is essentially a pitcher with a two-piece detachable filter and an airtight lid with basically two "notch" positions - closed and "open enough to pour," though you'll probably just take the lid off when you serve. The pitcher is oblong, which doesn't come through in the pictures, so you can lay it on its side for brewing, which is recommended for the coffee maker. The handle is also big and thick, with a rubberized grip. The differences between this and the iced tea maker are basically that the filter material used feels different. This has a silky, denser mesh, while the iced tea maker is a more standard, coarse, more open mesh. You can buy replacements for either one. The iced tea maker has a method of pouring hot water directly into the maker for brewing that is not advertised for this one, although everything is exactly the same except for the filter so I'm pretty sure you can use that method with the coffee maker as well, although again the filter material itself is different. The iced tea maker also comes with a little cup that acts as a holder for the filter, which can stand up by itself when the lid is not screwed on. The coffee maker does not come with the cup. I also found that, in general, tea soaks up less water than coffee, so I had to take out the coffee maker halfway through the brew, maybe before I went to sleep, and fill it up with some more water, whereas I didn't have to do that with the iced tea maker. I did find that the handle part of the pitcher where the lid screws in, the actual colored part, often feels slightly loose and made me feel like I had to tighten it slightly. Please note that only the color of this piece and the lid are different. The two-piece filter only comes in black no matter what color you choose. One piece of the filter screws into the lid and the actual filter part screws into that first piece. It has a flat bottom, so can stand-up by itself, as previously mentioned. Of course, this is a great airtight pitcher in and of itself, even when you're not using the filter and just need something big to mix/shake a drink in and pour it. It takes about 2 cups of ground coffee to brew a full pitcher, and I have noticed the slightest bit of leaking as I use this maker. We're talking a few drops after an overnight of brewing on its side and sealed airtight. If you close it all the way and hold it upside down, nothing is going to immediately leak unless you leave it that way for an extended period of time. It's slightly harder to clean out the coffee maker just because coffee grounds are messier than tea, including some thick soupy buildup that you're going to see at the top of the filter. Get ready to shake out about 95% of it into your trash can and rinse out the rest below a running sink. It's also a little hard to find the exact perfect way to pour coffee grounds into the filter without spilling any, and I've settled on using a corner of the bag itself to do it. The iced tea maker seems to come in brighter colors than the coffee maker. Takeya also makes a spa water infuser version of this with a more open plastic filter, but you can easily use this or the coffee maker and just infusion spa water by dropping fruit directly into the water, without having to use the filters at all, which will give you a stronger flavor anyway. The instructions tell you to use medium roast beans, but I love blonde roasts the most and I have made very good cold brew with this. Just make sure you use filtered water obviously and not tap water since you are cold brewing this, and wash everything thoroughly after each use before re-brewing. I have found that flavored beans like vanilla or hazelnut taste absolutely amazing cold brewed with this maker. Please note that you will not yield a full 2 quarters of brewed coffee because the filter and the grounds take up alot of volume in the container. I can get about 3-4 large glasses.

Does it’s job

I bought this to make my husband cold brew coffee since he prefers it over hot coffee. It does what it’s supposed to do. The only issue I have with it is when you fill it with coffee grounds, they tend to create an air pocket, which makes you have to open the compartment and push them back down again. If you don’t do this, the coffee will be really weak since half of the grounds are not getting wet.

Saves tons of money for cold coffee lovers!

I had this sitting in my cart for so long because I wasn’t sure if I would like it or use it enough. I am so glad I made the decision to buy it because I am absolutely in love with it and it’s one of the best purchases I made. So if you have yours just sitting in your cart, this is your sign to just buy it! It’s easy to use and you won’t be disappointed! The smaller one is perfect for just one person, unless you drink multiple cups a day, but it only means you will have to brew more for the next day which isn’t hard to do. I am a visual person, so I brought it upon myself to help others out with tape measurements. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Small but mighty !!!

The product was much smaller than I anticipated however this ended up being a good thing because if it was any bigger and wouldn’t fit in my fridge lol. It is so easy to use, simple, and the best part it is easy to clean. It makes the best cold brew obviously it depends on your beans but I’ve been playing around with different beans to find the best concoction. It will save you so much money so you don’t have to buy a coffee every morning.

Looking for something more robust? This one fits pretty well!

This is my second purchase of a cold brew coffee maker. But not the same as my previous one. The old one I had was made out of glass and unfortunately, it was pretty thin and lasted for a year and a half. It developed a crack near the lid on top. So I decided to get a new one before the crack propagates to the bottom of the glass jug. This was an item with a decent amount of reviews and was ranking 4.5 stars. This item exceeds the previous cold brew maker in terms of rating by the number of reviews and roughly the same ranking. What do I like? It is made out of plastic, but of high quality and should last longer The lid completely closes the container so there is no chance of spilling. Much quicker to completely soak the coffee grounds all that is needed is to give it a good shake. Most items in this category usually need stirring. Everything just screws on. What I dislike The instructions mention if you want to make it more concentrated it is recommended to pull the filter out and drain the remaining liquid into the rest of the concentrate for 45mins. But there is no easy way to do that unless you have a separate container where you can pour the concentrate and for the filter to rest above it. Because this a close and shake cold brew maker would imagine the rubber seal will be the first thing to go. But im sure that can be easily replaced. I have not given a flavour rating as I think it is irrelevant to this item because you're never going to get apple to apple comparison between other individuals who have written a review. But what I will say in comparison to my old one, the ratio between coffee and water seems higher than my previous one which required 1.1L to 80g of coffee. The instructions for this item require around 950ML to 108g of Coffee so it is more concentrated.

Great quality, but the design isn't perfect.

If you're new to cold-brew coffee as I was and are looking for an inexpensive and easy way to make your brew, this is a solid product. It has a nice solid feel, is easy to clean, and feels pretty durable. There are a couple things that bother me though. The main problem is that coffee grounds float, and this product has the space for coffee grounds in line with the max water line. This means that unless you overfill the pot with water, you'll always have coffee grounds poking above the water line. However even overfilling with water doesn't really solve this problem, as the filter pod for the coffee grounds has about an inch of solid plastic above the filter elements, creating a nice little cave for the grounds to hide from the water. This is probably why the manual recommends you shake the device every so often while it's brewing, to ensure all the grounds touch the water. This doesn't always work though. Every brew I've made so far has had at least a tablespoon of dry grounds at the top when I discard the grounds. If the filter pod had it's own separate ceiling and more filter elements, this issue could be avoided. It's also messy. It's damn nearly impossible to avoid spilling a bit of coffee or grounds while discarding the grounds. It also needs two hands to pour (assuming you leave the empty filter pod in the device after brewing.) Despite these problems, I haven't been able to find a convenient alternative that fixes the dry grounds issue, so for now this would be my recommendation for cold brewing.

Delicious coffee!!

I had been making regular iced coffee this summer by pouring concentrated hot coffee over ice, but my mother in law recommended one of these to me. I am SO happy I got one!! The coffee is so smooth and less bitter, I don’t even need to add creamer or anything like I do for the hot brewed coffee. I am glad I made the investment, as cold brew is much more expensive than regular coffee at coffee bars. Upon searching for a cold brew maker, I chose this one because it’s plastic and I thought my family would break a glass one. This one has held up, and the parts are all sturdy so I don’t foresee any accidents happening. This will make about 2.5 large servings of cold brew for my family and I. We make more each night!

Works well

This makes iced coffee well. Definitely lay it on its side like the instructions say for a bit on the counter. I use warm water instead of cold since I found cold did not work and the coffee wasn’t very strong. There’s lots of room for coffee grinds so depending on your taste you can play around with the amount per jug. This is very easy to clean. I would have preferred it to be glass.
