Heavy duty construction
Product arrived incomplete, one of the studs that holds the main body together didn’t have a nut installed so I had to go to the hardware store before being able to use it.

Great Stud Welder
Excellent Stud Welder. Just make sure you insert the tip before using. It maybe loose within the contents of the box.

I love it
I must admit, I am not a body repair person. I was scared to pull dents on my car I decided to restore, as I heard you had to drill holes, pull the dent, then plug the holes one way or another While watching Spike TV I saw one of the guys on a car show use a product like this, so onto Amazon I went. I bought this unit as it was one of the cheapest ones, and well...I'm poor. I was quite afraid it wouldn't work well, or the slide hammer would be flimsy and break, etc. This thing is a blessing. It's ready to go right out of the box. Plug it up, stick a stud in the tip (make sure you sand the area you want the stud to weld to down to the bare metal), press the tip to the area, squeeze the trigger for less than 1 second (no more or it can burn a hole), and bam it's ready. Screw on the slide hammer and tug that dent out. It came with a lot of studs as well. I don't think you could use the whole box of studs on a single car. One note, it will not let you pull dents out of areas with boxed in panels sometimes (like the corner of a fender and a door frame, or a rocker panel) , as this metal is usually a thicker gauge. I say for 90% of the car this is perfect for dent removal.

Great gun for do it yourself
It came in in a timely manner and works great. Worth the money if you have lots of project in the future.

Takes some practice and finesse. Don't kid yourself,
Practice with the copper studs on different materials. Instructions warn you against > 1 second hold time. Trust that as yes, shorter tends to hold better IF you hold it correctly, and know where the current contacts are with the materials. Keep all surfaces clean. Pay attention. This sucker is really heavy, at least for me, but maybe not for you. I expect this tool to work forever treated well. Be careful with what size pins you order and what size mandrel you have. Some of the washers I've gotten were not the size they said they were.

It did what was expected of it
I am an amateur body man, not a pro by any means. I had previously bought a stud welder from HF (don't know if I can mention other brands) and that one didn't perform well at all so I took it back. My first use of this H&S stud welder was to pull out an area that is in the substructure of my Jeep Grand Cherokee. The tool welded the studs securely and the slide hammer hung onto the studs well. I think the area I attempted to pull out was under too much pressure because I actually broke off the studs with no appreciable movement of the panel. The tips of the studs remained welded to the panel so it wasn't a failure of the tool. I am convinced the tool did everything it was supposed to do. I just don't think every dent is pullable in this manner. I ended up cutting out the damaged area, straightening it and welding the straight panel back in. I wanted to avoid that but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I hope to use this tool again for something it is designed to do.

The slide hammer is what sets this one apart
After seeing a few different ways these slide hammers grab the studs, I can say this one does it better then others I have seen. you spin it to grab the stud, like tightening a drill bit on a drill, so it doesn't pull free. Can't say enough how much better that is. Overall, the gun worked perfectly, and couldn't have been happier with the results.

Nose doesn't fit, manufacturer couldn't grasp the problem, circuit breaker pops too often
Had a lot of trouble with this. The stud holder nose didn't sit all the way in because it was too long; it was seated in as far as it could go, but the ground ring couldn't make contact with the sheet metal when a stud was in the holder. I contacted the manufacturer and they were dumbfounded. They sent me a new part so I just took it to mean there was some kind of manufacturing defect, but no, it was exactly the same. I ended up cutting about 5/8" off one of the stud noses so it would fit, and it worked. However, the gun does not even allow for hardly any time to weld studs before the circuit breaker pops. I'm not ham-fisting it, I'm giving it less than 1 1/2 to 2 seconds a trigger pull, but it still pops every 3 studs. There would be no way I could use an accessory like a gang puller. I've used it for what I bought it for, and they say that makes it pay for itself, but it also is supposed to mean you have it for later use. While I still have it, I dread the thought of relying on it again, and I know it's coming up soon. Even though I'm rating it three stars because it did what I needed at the time, I recommend you buy something else.
