Great RO at an amazing price (Highly recommend purchasing a permeate pump as well)
I've had RO systems for the better part of 20+ years. Our household goes through a lot of fresh water daily, so having an RO system has paid for itself many times over. Even if you don't go through a ton of water for drinking, cooking, iced tea, etc...the convenience of not having to buy unlimited amounts of bottled water and/or filling water jugs at your local water store is definitely an added bonus. I've had 3, 4 & 5 stage RO units throughout the years and they've all produced great tasting water. My past 3 or 4 RO units (which are usually purchased when we move houses) have been Watts Premier models. They specialize is very fast & easy filter changes and they are definitely easy filter changes. However, you pay a little larger price for that convenience. Their 4-stage RO units run about $200 and the yearly filter changes run about $60. RO units also have 2 types of faucets: 1) faucets with an air-gap and 2) faucets without an air-gap. By definition: "Air gap faucets were designed to protect the RO system. In the event of clogging, a small amount of air, rather than dirty water, would go back into the RO system". The air gap will always make some noise when the tank is filling as air and water pass through the drain line and sound escapes from the little air gap hole. The Watts Premier RO systems have an air gap. If your system has an air gap, you cannot replace the RO faucet with a non-air gap faucet...you need to replace the faucets (if necessary) with the same kind. During my most recent search for an RO unit to install in a new home purchase, I came across this Express Water RO unit at an amazing price (which included a year of filter changes). I was a bit skeptical given the price, but the amount of solid reviews made it an appealing option. I made the purchase and had friend help with the install since I am a large framed man that does not easily fit under the sink area. After a month of use, I can say I am very happy with the taste, performance & overall experience with the RO. With that said, I found myself missing the benefits of the permeate pump that I had installed in my last house. If you just care about the RO review, then I am very pleased and give it 5 stars. If you want to know what a permeate pump is and WHY you should get one, read on. This is the permeate pump available on Amazon that I purchased and am reviewing below: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005VPPRX4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Let me start by saying I will NEVER have another RO system without a permeate pump again. Permeate pumps use the wastewater that is expelled during the RO process to greatly increase water pressure at the RO faucet, minimize wastewater and fill the tank in less time. They can be installed on nearly all standard RO systems aftermarket so there’s no need to buy a bundled RO system that includes the permeate pump (since most of those cost a lot more than buying the units separately). I was introduced to permeate pumps about 4 years ago. I purchased a Watts Premier RO system from Costco (when they still sold Watts Premier) and had it installed by a plumber (since I needed a hole drilled in my granite countertop). I consider myself pretty handy and although plumbing in general isn’t rocket science, I’m a large framed man that hates trying to squeeze under sinks to do pretty much anything plumbing related. After the RO was installed, I was getting smaller (and broken) pieces of ice at my refrigerator since my RO was feeding my ice maker through a longer 1/4” line from the kitchen island to the refrigerator. This a drawback of a lot of RO systems which feed ice makers that aren't in very close proximity. After researching I came across a permeate pump (sold through Watts Premiere) and made the purchase. The included instructions were specific for the RO unit I had and it was an easy install since the RO was already up and running. Immediately, you will notice several things with the permeate pump. 1) Permeate pumps make some noise. They generally click or “thump” every few seconds. This happens because the wastewater from the RO builds up pressure inside the pump that is then used to push fresh (permeate) water into the storage tank. When the pressure builds and releases, you get clicking or thumping until your tank is full. 2) Your RO faucet pressure increases dramatically. As a result of the increased permeate water being forced into the storage tank, the tank pressure within the tank bladder increases and you end up with water pressure comparable to your regular faucet. The line pressure at the refrigerator & ice maker (assuming you have them all hooked together) is also the beneficiary of the increased pressure and you get full sized ice cubes again. So, why wouldn’t everybody want one of these? Well, I think most people have never heard of them. If you have, then the results speak for themselves. HOWEVER, these do make noise...especially if your RO faucet has an air gap (that little hole in the back of the faucet that inevitably leaks water out of it when the drain line gets blocked with something). With an air gap, permeate pumps get VERY NOISY. The pump action not only clicks (or thumps) under the sink, but the air gap sound created from the pump gets much louder as well. The air gap noise on my Watts Premier Pure Plus unit was so loud I actually debated on getting another permeate pump in our new house. I ended up buying a highly reviewed non-air gap RO system from Amazon and had it installed for a month in my new house. As usual, the water taste and purity was perfect and I am pleased that my ice cubes were normal sized (since the builder installed a larger RO line from my island to the fridge). I just realized how much I was missing the RO tank pressure (which equates to faster filling of water jugs & cooking pots). I went back to Amazon and found this permeate pump which said it was the newer model that makes less noise. The unit arrived in about a week (no 2-day prime shipping available for it). I watched a YouTube video for installing it on a basic 5-stage RO and had it all hooked up in about 20 mins. I’m once again in RO bliss. The water pressure in the faucet just makes me smile...no more waiting a minute to fill a normal glass with water (OK it’s not literally a minute but felt that way to me). The noise is considerably less from the pump itself. I ended up buying some u-shaped plastic clamps (Amazon search: TmallTech Big Simple Clip Clamp 2.5" Bracket Reverse Osmosis RO Membrane Housing (Pack of 3)) that hold the permeate pump to one of the RO filters so the pump is not directly mounted to the cabinet wall (like it was at my previous house). Also, since I don’t have an air gap on this RO faucet, I have no additional noise from the faucet. If my house is silent, you still hear the pump cycling the water, but it’s minimal and it’s only until the tank is full. After that, it doesn’t cycle back on until water has been used from the tank. All in all, I missed the permeate pump benefits and will never have another RO system without one. I will also make sure I don’t get an RO with an air-gap faucet either. Hopefully this review helps people.

Pretty straightforward install. Gives good tasting water but read on...
We actually have pretty decent tasting, clean water already. Absolutely no complaints on that one but some of the reports of what even very low-levels of some chemicals may be doing are enough to raise some concerns and this is decently priced so we decided to give it a go. Although installation was not too difficult, there were a few, fairly small issues that could have been smoother. Firstly, the instructions include no clearances or dimensions so the installer is left to measure and um-and-ah for themselves. We have a slightly awkward install as I decided to place it in the corner where there is some otherwise infrequently used space. There is a permanently installed shelf there. After a bit of backward-and-forwarding, I was able to ascertain that there was clearance for the tank and for changing the filters (with about 1/4" to spare). A mounting template would have been a very useful addition. Due to the confined space, I mounted one of the screws very slightly from where it needed to be and had to move it. The instructions are laid out like a brochure. Not terrible to work from but it means you have to hunt for the specifics sometimes. Other than the aforementioned dimensions and template, they're pretty complete though although it claimed a washer for the faucet that I didn't appear to have. It didn't seem to affect anything. You'll want to attach a fair amount of the pipes before you're crawling under your sink, especially if you have reduced access as I did. The top two filters are also probably best removed for the first part of the operation. They pop back in pretty easily. The faucet is a bit of a pain to install, especially with the small nut and that you can't attach the pipe before the faucet is installed (having a way to do that before was a godsend). I tried using the push-fit attachment first but that somehow seated wrong and was leaking. The plastic-olive alternative works fine though. A small, cheap angled wrench for tightening up the nut(s) would be a welcome addition to the kit. I did have a regular wrench but it wasn't ideal for the space. The short pipe to the leak-stop mechanism is just a bit too short. I had to mount the filters high because of the shelf and that means it doesn't quite reach the bottom. I bought some more pipe to give me that extra length but just a few more inches would have been nice. The water itself... To be honest, I can't taste much difference. It's good but, as mentioned, it tasted good anyway. I have noticed that flavored drinks seem to taste a bit better though. Maybe a hint less of a chlorine smell (though that wasn't really an issue anyway). But it's more about the health side of things anyway. It might be interesting to see the difference in TDS but I'm probably not going to bother. Oh, one other thing is that the shutoff exits to the right but my system is to the left. Not a big deal, just a little annoying. I couldn't see any way to switch it over.

Plan ahead and choose the best site
This is the 2nd ro system I have installed. Express Water was as good as the 1st system and less expensive. The shipment arrived 2 days earlier than stated. No damage in transit. The instructions were easy to follow. My only negative comment concerns the supplied wrench(s) to remove the filter canisters. There is no wrench for the ro canister. One was supplied with my 1st system and it comes in handy. As for installation, it is not necessary to install the system under the sink providing you can run the line from the system to where the faucet is installed. The area under the sink is hard to work in and space can be used for other storage. My system was mounted on a wall above a basement sink. Constricted space was not an issue for installation and changing the filters. You might have to purchase additional 1/4" plastic tubing but it is not expensive.

Very good RO
Few years ago i did install a Watts Premier RO system in my mom's house. it was bought in a big box store and Watts is a known name but that's always a pain to find filters and membrane as the store sell the systems but don't have the same brand filters and so on. That why i bought a Express Water Ro unit because of steadily available filters, membrane, parts, and add-ons like UV, ion, mineralizer, etc. I wasn't sure about the brand as i didnt had the idea to look at their website but as i received the box even without opening it i knew it wasn't cheap chinese knock-off/chinesium. I don't know if the product manufactured oversea but for sure packing is well done, everything were well designed/packed and installation instruction are top tier. It was a breeze to install. I did put the tank in the adjacent cabinet to keep most of the space under the sink. I did some test with the TDS meter that came with the unit: After water softener : 550-750 PPM !! Demineralized water jugs 20 Liters ( 4 1/8 American football ball ) : 2 PPM Express water Ro water: 12-17 PPM I regret not buying that unit way before as my cat did passed away last week from kidney failure i'm 100% sure she could have lived a little longer if her water came from the clean RO. Didn't knew my water was that bad! Some comments here says they will update their comments but they all don't. I'll update the TDS result in a few weeks from now ( 2022-11-27 ) Update 2022-12-07: Tap water : 550-560ppm Express water Ro water: 22 PPM

Simple installation, good water.
Out town water supply is very good, but they tend at times to overdo the chlorine, which my wife did not like. For years, we had a water cooler sitting in the kitchen and had bottled water delivered. This year I had the water provider start delivering three gallon jugs instead of the five gallon ones, a small concession to this eighty-seven year old body. The filter system arrived three days ago, two days ahead of schedule, and two days later we had our first drink of the filtered water. Installation was straight forward. If anything, the instructions are over-kill. (Don't hook up to the hot water, really?) Although the advertisement on Amazon provides the dimension in inches, I had really not appreciated the size of the unit and the tank. They are big. The layout I had in my mind had to be changed. The barbarian who installed the sewer lines did not help with the lay-out he came up with. My system (RO) faucet was supposed to come with a large and small rubber washer. The small one that was supposed to go between the faucet and the base plate was missing. I installed it without it and don't see this as a problem. I had some concern with having the leak-stop-valve installed on the cabinet floor. The idea is that it will work after the cabinet is flooded. Not ideal. I commandeered one of my wife's baking pans, and modified it to fit under the filter unit then secured the valve in this. All the connections, save the one to the tank, will now only leak into the pan. In the instructions there is a note that the system should only be installed in a location that has drainage. Really? In a normal kitchen? Never seen it. With a mind towards changing the filters when required, I left all the lines long enough so that the unit can be lifted off the tray and brought right out into the kitchen and placed in a tub. Unfortunately, the white tubing provided to connect the leak-stop-valve to the filter was far too short, I don't know why they were so skimpy with that one, but they provided enough extra red tubing to do the job. To make sure the tubing was seated correctly, I wrapped a bit of electrical tape 3/4 of an inch from the end as a guide. When it is right, the tape will be close to the connection. So far so good. No sign of any leak. The water passed the 'wife test'. After we have lugged the remaining jugs of bottled water up from the garage, and used them up, we will dispose of the cooler. Happy camper here.

leaking faucet no customer support.
Was easy to install, good instructions. Faucet leaks, storage tank is not 4 gal, automatic shut off was installed backwards. Emailed customer support with no response, so I have a crappy leaking faucet that i will have to replace. I know this seems strange and I don't get it, other people have had great customer service from this company, that is the reason I picked this unit. You better have closer to 50 PSI or you will have lots of waste water and poor production. My TDS dropped from 450 to 010 so it does work. Bypass your RO membrane when you first charge your unit to save sending all kinds of carbon through it. If they would have gotten back to me and replaced the faucet or even discussed the issue my rating would have been higher. I did not phone I used the Email address provided in the manual. I am hoping replacement filters and membranes are universal fit for future replacement due to this.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!
This filter is fantastic. I moved from one area, where the water was ok, to a area where the water is "poor" imo. One way to check water quality it to look at TDS - Total Dissolved Solids. The TDS where I had been living and I would describe as "OK" water had a TDS of 130ppm. The area I moved where I would call the water "poor" has a TDS of 200ppm. I tried using a Brita brand filter and that water, after the Brita filter, went from 200ppm to 170ppm. Now with this filter, my water has 11ppm TDS. No smell or taste, just pure water. Now, the hardest part of installing this filter is drilling through the sink. Stainless steel, which most sinks are made from is very challenging to drill into but it is doable. I'd say, but extra bits and maybe a metal punch to punch that first smaller hole through the metal. Once you get one hole drilled, drilling it larger with bigger bits, is much easier. I love this filter and I would tell anyone it is worth the money and the couple of hours of installation.
