It's okay

Idk how they package this hammer but mine came in a thin (padded) envelope - and the seal on the pick end broke. Maybe in transit but still it shouldn't have happened right? The handle looks somewhat dirty and crudely made. Kind of looks like someone already took this hammer to the field a few times but hasn't hit anything with it yet.

This is the quality tool you need for rocks. Its not a crappy weak one that bends or isn't tempered, this one will last a few years of abuse (geologists) or a lifetime (geophysicists). Get the Estwing 3lb sledge with it and you are unstoppable. You're a rock's worst nightmare. Quartzite and diabase cower as you appear. Gniess knows you are not nice. Minerals fracture from your presence. When the CIA wants to know where the oil is, they send you with this hammer.

Long Lasting Rock Pick!

Here's a short synapsis... If you like to go rockhounding, prospecting or just digging through rocks, this is a must have tool... This, plus a 3-4 lb brick/rock hammer, and a Gad (Estwing has that and is incredible too) are the bare min you need to sucessfully dig through the earth to find, well whatever you are digging for!! This pick is robust, I have 3, all over 2 years old... One is prob 10 years, but they are quite dull now from many many dig sessions! Highly recommend, Estwing still makes excellent tools!! I have yet to be disappointed!

What more can I say, It's a good Rock hammer but the thing I feel is great is the Orange Handle. Easy to see. Crazy thing is, I thought I lost my other Orange handled Hammer out many miles away from home so I bought another. since it is easier to spot when moving all the dirt and sometimes only the handle is showing which makes it easier to spot when packing up for the day. But while out on my last field trip with the club I spotted something Orange (like 1 inch of) in between the bed and cab of the Pickup on top of the fuel tank. Must have fallen down off the tool box and wedged itself. Took 20 min to retrieve it but had not been for the orange handle showing through all the mud, I may have never found it.

Very nice tool

No complaints at all. Nicely balanced in the hand, not too heavy and very little recoil. If you’re considering getting this for splitting, don’t. I did try, but as it says on the head, for prying only, and for the at it is excellent, otherwise buy a different hammer (with a flat edge instead of pointed) or buy a chisel.

it's heavy, it's pointy, and other hammer owners will envy you.

I use it for testing how thick metal is on rusty steel boats. Hit it and see if you can make a hole. If you make a hole, hit round the hole till you stop making holes. That's where you cut out the old metal and replace with new metal. Simple.

Es ist ganz einfach — Es gibt keinen besseren Hammer auf der Welt.

Ja, das ist der beste Hammer der Welt. Für die, die den Hammer kennen nichts Neues. Aber: Ich habe seit 30 Jahren den Estwing Geologenhammer mit dem blauen Griff in Verwendung. Er ist öfters schon im Gelände, manchmal teilweise von Schutt bedeckt, liegen geblieben. Zum Glück habe ich ihn danach jedes Mal wieder finden können. Ich habe mir dabei jedoch jedesmal gewunschen, er hätte eine leuchtend orange Farbe, die das Wiederfinden erleichtern würde. Nun ist er exakt so wie aus meinen "Hammerträumen" erhältlich. Für mich ist er nun als Hammer - und das eben für einen hammerbegeisterten Menschen - sozusagen vollkommen. Details: 1) Der Stiel ist eine Spur länger als die meines alten "blauen Estwing's" (5 mm) 2) Der orangefarbene Hammer wiegt ein paar Gramm mehr (Er bringt 935 Gramm auf die Waage). Dies variiert aber von Hammer zu Hammer ein bisschen – Ist eben Handarbeit. In puncto Stahlqualität reichen die besten Hämmer der besten anderen Hersteller vielleicht noch an den Estwing heran, was den Griff aber anbelangt, bleibt der Estwing für mich ungeschlagen der schlagkräftigte Hammer. Fazit: Einfach ein Hammer der Hammer. Der Preis zu dem der Hammer hier angeboten wird ist auch "Hammer"; meist kostet er ja etwas mehr in Europa (Eigentlich wären für ein derart langlebiges Werkzeug ja auch 300 € noch ein guter Preis. Aber sind wir froh, dass der Hammer günstiger ist) Es gäbe noch viel zu sagen, aber lassen wir es vorerst mal.... Es ist ja auch nur ein Hammer —)
