works first time.
I’ve built wood puzzles from 3 different brands, this being the first from EWA. I find the tolerances too variable, the toothpicks and dowels aren’t consistent in diameter, the plywood chips too easily, the laser cut holes are inconsistent in diameter, some of the laser cuts aren’t finished. After initially struggling to push the toothpicks through and breaking some toothpicks, I decided to drill out all the toothpick holes by hand as I get to them, holding each part in one hand and the power drill in the other hand. Luckily I had the right size drill bit for the toothpicks. The dowels are tough, they are either totally loose or are too tight. I had to use a hammer to tap the tight ones through. Luckily the wood did not split. The 4 dowels in the wind-up handle were loose. I had my doubts, but didn’t see how to improve it easily. The dowels lean over when when I wind the rubber bands, but it has held up so far. Maybe it was the right decision not to glue them in. Still this could have been designed to be more sturdy. Just judging by other EWA products I thought this was going to be simple. I was surprised that this was a relatively lengthy build, which is good. Part of the reason is there are 8 legs. Most important to me is that the instructions are good. They are not wordy, but the pictures did most of the talking. I got hung up on step 17 (page 18) where my assembly looked so close to the picture but still off by a little. So many times I wanted to move on but kept trying to figure it out. Then I recognized some details in the picture that got me through. My assembly then looked exactly like the picture. This would have been a 4 stars review if the spider didn’t run the very first time. Seeing it crawl across the floor the first attempt without fidgeting with it was satisfying.

wooden spider
This was a gift to my dad who loves wood working, detailed puzzles, and spiders. He has been enjoying working on it, there have been pieces that do not fit together as well as they should, the too tight ones he sands a tiny bit and it's good. The loose ones are what he is trying to figure out how to handle. He is thinking a bit of wood glue on the piece, let it dry, then sand to proper size. That is a bit more work than I had intended for him to have to put into this gift, but he is having a good time!

Very challenging but cheap plywood is too brittle
I've done several of these kits (film projector, clocks, etc.) and this was a great challenge. Some of the steps require a lot of dexterity (hint - for step 10, a nickel is the perfect size to keep the structure from collapsing until you get it stable.) My works ok, goes a few feet anyway; it looks great! My complaint is that the plywood is very brittle. I was very careful pushing parts out of the boards and snapping pieces in place but in spite of my care, some of the pieces chipped and I had to resort to glue.

Good buy
Bought this for my husband, he loved it. I believe he said it's a bit tidious and fidly to put together, but other than that no complaints. It was also bigger than we expected, about the width of the box it comes in. So make sure you have the space for it.

Intricate and challenging
This is an awesome puzzle! Very tedious and exacting to put together. Perfect for anyone who loves to do intricate work with their hands. It will keep you occupied for hours. I would not recommend this for children as it has rather delicate and frustrating pieces. But it is a joy to assemble and lose yourself in the experience for hours on end. Excellent excellent craft! I love it and will be buying others when I can afford to do so!! Bonnie Louisiana

Beautiful and challenging
Exceptional 3D puzzle for the precise hobbyist. Great instructions that need to be followed carefully as some parts need to be waxed (candle wax included) for easier assembly. The finished spider is fun and stunning.

Poor quality
Parts falling off. It did work holding it until the legs fell off. I tried a drop of glue and it stopped working then a leg broke I threw it in the trash

sieht gut aus - läuft leider nicht
Lieferung wie immer über Amazon sehr schnell und zuverlässig. Die Spinne war ein Weihnachtsgeschenk und kam auch sehr gut an. Der Aufbau ist auch bereits erfolgt. Leider „läuft“ die Spinne nicht, sie bekommt ihren Hinterleib einfach nicht hoch. Einen Fehler beim Zusammenbau bzw. beim setzen der Gummis ist ausgeschlossen - wurde alles doppelt und dreifach geprüft. Aber sie ist hübsch anzusehen.

Maquette de belle taille
Cette maquette en bois est asser facile à monter car la notice en couleurs est très bien détaillé. Il vous faudra juste un cutter et une petite pince pour la monter . Le papier de verre et la cire qui doit s'appliquer sur les pièces en mouvements sont fournis. Pour les jeunes enfants, il faut quand même mieux être accompagné d'un adulte pour la monter , car on utilise un cutter et certaines pièces sont difficiles à emboîter. Si on veut une bonne finition,que l'on prend le temps de bien ébavurer les pièces, il faut bien compter trois heures de montage. L'araignée est mobile , il faut l'aider un peu pour qu'elle avance. C'est peu être aussi parce que je n'ose pas trop la remonter pour éviter de casser des pièces. Ils y a aussi certaines pièces de rechanges dans les plus fragiles. Maquette qui occupe un bon moment et qui peut servir d'éléments de décoration. J'ai mis ma main à côté pour vous donner une idée de la taille. Le prix est correct. Ravi de mon achat
