perfect for my granddaughter

This was perfect for my little granddaughter for Christmas. Was a bit difficult but well worth the time it took.

Super time consuming

Okay no lie these are HARD im not a sewing person but me and my siblings have a stocking that was made in the 90’s same as these so now that i have two daughters i just had to get some for them at grandmas! Super cute but definitely a challange

Great quality but complicated

I bought a few of these to make for my kids. This project is not one to start if you don’t have a lot of time to devote to it! I wasn’t able to finish the project and ended up giving these away.

Read the directions completely first

It certainly turns out adorable when you’re finished. Because it’s so incredibly time consuming, it’s not very easy. It took me about a solid week and a half of 8 hours a day to complete, with one or two days nearing 12 hours. The numbers on the pieces are illegible. I ran out of white embroidery floss. On some pieces, like the legs, the preprinted guideline shows and I couldn’t really think of any way to hide it except wait for time to rub it off. In the directions, it wants you to see the large piece onto the stocking itself and then bead or embroider or appliqué the smaller pieces to that. That’s impossible. For example, it wants you to sew the green tree to the stocking and then attach the pieces to the tree but only to sew through the felt of the tree, not the stocking. It’s nearly impossible to not go through all of the felt layers when attempting to attach a bead. So i attached all pieces to the tree and then sewed the tree to the stocking. I also did this for the top cuff and the purple skirt and the hairpiece. It’s much easier to do it this way so be sure to read ahead.

Beautiful!

I try to do two of these a year. I give myself 6 months each, taking my time in order to do other things. I thinks this is one of my best. Maybe because it is the first girlie project (which I love). My mother taught me to embroidery as a child. I picked it back up about three years ago (when I couldn't play tennis anymore). My stitches (especially satin stitch) are not nearly as good as my mothers, but all turned out good. The lips were difficult. I changed the hair to match my niece, and it gave the project a whole new look! More like a Hollywood Plum Fairy. She reminds me of Kim K. Ha, ha. I also added a pearl ring, and changed the bodice as not to interfere with her braid and corded bow. I always line these stockings so things don't get stuck on the threads. I keep a stock of extra beads, felt colors and thread. I always follow the instructions starting with 1. I do read them in advance, and decide ahead of time if I want to modify it in any way.

beautiful and great instructions but short on supplies

I am new at this type of project. This took me 10 days to complete only working a couple hours a day. I do have embroidery experience, but not since I was a child. The stocking came out beautifully. I did run out of red beads, white floss and a couple color sequins. Luckily, the craft store carried what I needed, but I do think that for the cost and it being a kit, you shouldn't run out of multiple included supplies. I also added an area above the top to add my daughter's name, one because I felt the cupcake wasn't very sturdy. Also, I wanted it to be like the one my grandma made me as a small child. This was to carry on a tradition she started, so I wanted that similarity. I chose to line the inside to keep stitches from snagging stocking suffers, ands extended the backing to match the added height of the name plate I added. Ill add pictures soon. Overall very doable kit with clear instructions ands room to make it your own. Now all my children want them!

A vastly more satisfying time sink than a game app.

I really enjoyed assembling this stocking. First time attempting one, and there were a few steps that I didn't really grasp how to do as a beginner that I modified to my current ability. Overall an enjoyable experience to create this whimsical piece! I added an inside lining from some basic red cotton fabric, to keep the threads on the back from getting snagged on things, made the felt hanging loop sturdier, and looped the name cupcake through that loop (seriously, what shiny-loving child would resist carrying off the cupcake if it were simply dangling from a sequin?) to secure it.

Go on treat yourself

I just love these kits. you can do as much or as little as you want and the end results are fantastic. They are very easy once you get into them. you do need to buy wadding for the 3 d effects, they would not look half as good without it. Have a go, you will get hooked. Price vary through the year so its wise to keep an eye on the prices.

Enjoy making these stockings...

I have made a fair few of these stockings over the years, believe my first one was for my eldest son (now 23) when he was around 5! He still uses it too : ) I have since made them for my other two children and have another one partially made that's been ongoing for a few years (a nativity scene), not sure where that one will end up yet.. maybe if Grandchildren come along at some stage! : D I wanted to collect some more for future projects as I do enjoy making them. This one is rather colourful, a pretty design, a good price when I purchased it and quick delivery from the Global Store. All round happy with purchase. : )

I love everything about the product.some people may find it difficult to do but all you need is to take your time and read the instructions you may have to trim a bit now and then .the only thing I changed was the back of stocking as the felt supplied Wes a bit thin but other than that it is lovely

Great, fun to make Christmas stocking.

Fun to make, just needed to add toy stuffing and pipe cleaners (chenille sticks). Arrived in good time. Very pleased with finished results.
