Does Its Job Well

For those using your Whirlpool range hood ventless, this is a significant upgrade over the standard filter which only extracts grease. It fits my model uxt5230bfs range hood perfectly. I tried it out last night, cooking a steak. While it didn't eliminate 100% of the smoke, it probably removed 95% of it. There was only a slight remainder in the air, and that dissipated soon after cooking was over. The range hood and this charcoal filter were being used for the first time. With my older hood and the grease only filter, my kitchen would be filled cloudiness and odor, prompting me to open the screen door. Sometimes the fire alarm would go off. So, again, a big improvement. Better installation instructions would be helpful. Whirlpool customer service was not able to help. Being my first usage, I didn't want to damage pulling the yet to be used standard grease filter out. Someone at Home Depot finally helped me out. By the way, these charcoal filters will need to be replaced every 6 months, hence the coming in pairs.

Whirlpool W10386873 Range Hood Replacement Charcoal Filter. 2-Pack Good product. Better than the original sold in Home Improvement stores definitively. The reason I don't give all five stars it's because the carbon media is not as dense as I expected. As a reference this: Small fish tank filters (approximately 5x7) have a denser carbon media. Nevertheless, I liked it, it does what is supposed to do, but could be improved upon, burning grease and smoke still filters out into the kitchen.

Perfectly fits in my range hood

Much sturdy and better quality compared to my previous filter which I got from Lowes. carbon filter looks promising to absorb the dene oil fumes.

My range hood does not vent outside my high-rise building, so I really needed something to catch the grease and smoke. It works as well as can be expected, and has decreased smoke and odor to a large degree.
