Great product but...

I have to give it four stars because it really doesn't fit me. To explain, I'm short! The full height of the handle plus the dumbell gives me less range to work. But, if you're not short and looking for something convert your dumbbells, this is a great option.

Well done low cost option.

Works almost perfectly for all my Fitness Gear Cast Hex Dumbbell from Dicks. I did buy some 2" nylon straps and clasps to wrap and secure the locking mechanism as we like to get very active at times. As others have mentioned, if you want to do between the leg swing, it become a bit too wide and bulky for two hand use, though you can turn the other direction and use hand-over-hand instead side-by-side. But for everything else it is damn good. Like lunges and core walking.

Good but not what you want

I wanted to be able to move to heaver kettlebells, but balked at the cost. I have an 80lb dumbbell, so I decided to give this a try. And it works! But it isn't a good idea, if you want to do swings, cleans, snatches, presses, or really anything other than pulls or lifts. With the width of the dumbbell you have to take a very exaggerated stance which hurts your form and can likely lead to injury. As I also have weight plates, I decided to get a standard (1inch) plate holding kettlebell handle instead and it works much better and costs the same.

Bowflex adjustable weight needs modification

I got this adapter to turn my bowflex adjustable dumbbells into adjustable kettlebells. I love how much space I’m saving here. I promptly removed it from the box to “check it out.” I attempted to clasp my dumbbell into the kettlebell handle and I couldn’t get it closed. Well… I probably could but didn’t think it wise to put so much force on this tiny plastic clasp. So I opened it back up and looked for a design flaw or a work around. Eureka! Each side of the inside of the kettlebell handle is lined with a black rubber/plastic type of material so the “bell” doesn’t rotate inside of it. I simply took one side out…and tried again. Voilà! It closes and functions as desired. I do worry about the clasp as it is kind of cheap plastic so to avoid breaking my super expensive adjustable weights I going to follow suit of another reviewer and bolster the clasp with a wrap around buckle or Velcro strap as “backup.“ This is a ridiculously inexpensive and ingenious way to increase your gym equipment without all the clutter and when your living room is “your gym”… you’ll take what you can get. Great for travel, but has drawbacks

Overall, these are good for what they are. The only drawback is using these with a dumbbell and doing swings, the dumbbell is a bit wide for that move and you can beat up your legs. BUT, they do what they promise to do.

Ok for small dumbbells

Not good for larger/taller dbs. And swing is weird with the weight on the outside and not centered. It would twist and feel unstable/uncomfortable. Did not like it for kb swings.

Highly recommended. Perfect for hex dumbells.

Brilliant, so good I bought two! Perfect for hex dumbells (looking at some of the other reviews your mileage may vary with other types of dumbells). Feels very sturdy. Just adjust your stance slightly for kettle bell swings with the really big dumbells (I. E. if you were hitting the 100lbs (a little over 45kg) weight limit). By converting my dumbbells I've effectively gained a huge kettlebell collection saving a fortune and also precious space.

Not designed for more than 20 kg.

I don't think you can put more than 2.5kg plates max on it. At the picture I have 2x2.5kg, 2x1.25 and 2x 0.5 kg. All standard York weight plates. Seems maximum you can put on it is 3 X 2.5 kg on each side so it makes no more than 18 kg kettlebel altogether. Far away from up to 100 lbs ;)
