A poor redesign of the BEST (XSKI EXTREME SKI SOCKS) ever :(

The NEW 2016 Redesigned XSKI Ski Socks as an utter let down and is just a complete disappointment, and is totally unusable for me for Winter Hiking, Downhill Skiing and Winter Motorcycling :( My feet are medium to narrow width. In footwear I need good arch support and in socks I need “moderate cushioning” for comfort and to take up some volume for a good snug proper fit. I love a glove like fit regarding my footwear. Ski Level: Expert The “Original” and recently discontinued Thorlo’s XSKI Extreme Ski Socks were the BEST Ski Socks ever!!! They were “Moderate Cushioning” which is exactly what I need and want, they were NOT Thin Cushioned as advertised. BUT then Thorlo discontinued them :( so they were years I had to go without new winter socks. Now they have been redesigned and they look great especially in All-Black (Steele Raven)! Styling I give them a solid A, BUT they're NOT the same Extreme Ski socks anymore :( They're not substantial enough, they have half the amount of fabric, so they're NOT going to be nearly as warm by any means. Also another huge negative is there is NO cushioning on the bottom of the foot, there is only slight cushioning on the shins which makes no sense to me. To me these are "Ultra-Thin" ski socks to me, and anyone that can downhill ski or ride a motorcycle in the Northeast winters with an ultra-thin socks boggles my mind and feet. I'm always the last one off the ski lifts in the bitter cold of Vermont. And I ride my Adventure Sport Tourer in 4-seasons in New York State. I give these Socks a D. There is NOT enough fabric for warmth and there's NO cushioning on the lower portion of the foot for comfort and added warmth, and that is the whole point of quality ski socks in the first place, right? So I am NOT happy and neither are my feet! I have owned and worn the recently discontinued Thorlo’s SLW Ski Wool/Silk Socks for years they last and last, but I upgraded to the XSKI Extreme Ski Socks, as they don't shrink do to the nature of the fabric and they were taller right below my kneecap that's where you want them to be. I am a former Adidas apparel and sneaker designer, I also sold tons of SLW Ski Wool/Silk Ski Socks when I worked at a Ski, Snowboard & Boat Shop because the most important piece of gear when going skiing/snowboarding - a great pair of Thorlo’s! I am so bummed out that Thorlo recently discontinued (4) of my favorite adventure socks :( listed below. Discontinued: (“Original” XSKI Extreme Ski) Color: Charcoal/Black. They're were/are awesome for; Winter Hiking, Downhill Skiing, Shoveling Snow and Winter Motorcycling! These socks were and are so awesome that I didn't evening have to wear long-johns under my jeans for winter beach hikes. Discontinued: (XWXU Experia Wool Silk Crew) Color: Charcoal. They're were/are awesome for; Hiking, Fall/Winter Trail Walking/Running and for Fall/Winter Casual daily use! They had/have a great temperature range, if you're cold you pulled them up and if you got warm all you have to do was roll them down then you are all good to go! I do wish there were 1” inch taller, otherwise they were/are perfect! Discontinued: (SLW Ski Wool/Silk Socks) Color: Black. They're were/are awesome for; Fall/Winter Hiking, Downhill Skiing, Shoveling Snow and Winter Motorcycling and Winter Casual daily use! I wish there were .5” inch taller due to shrinkage. Discontinued: (WLTH Light Hiking Socks) Color: Charcoal. They're were/are awesome for; Fall/Winter Hiking, Shoveling Snow and Winter Casual daily use! I wish there were 1” inch taller. NOTE: Thorlo’s generally are more thicker have more cushioning under foot then on other sock brands and that's why I like and swear by them. BUT the NEW 2016 Redesigned XSKI Ski Socks as an utter let down and is just a complete disappointment, and is totally unusable for me for downhill skiing and winter motorcycling :( Thorlo PLEASE update and bring my favorite socks back!!! Great performance ski socks.

I've only spent a few days in my new socks, but they kept my feet warm in ~25°F nighttime skiing, and weren't too warm in what was almost 50°F day (with really horrible conditions, but I was shadowing a ski patroller). They had enough shin padding that I wasn't feeling bruised after multiple days of skiing (even with sticky, nasty conditions, but I admit I wasn't skiing too hard on those crappy days). And if you're going for performance over absolute comfort, the thin sock lets you clamp down your boots so there's (almost?) no movement between your foot and the the boot ... without clamping down so hard that you're cutting off circulation. Of course, if you're just starting out, you might be better off going for a thicker sock.

If you like a thin cushioned sock, like I do, these are excellent. Plenty warm with great boot feel for extra control. I use it with my snowboard boots and works great.

Great ski socks.

Wife loves them. She skis 4-5 times per week and needed a backup pair of socks. They're better than her primary.

Performance ski sock. Snappy looking.

I like this sock. I am a demanding, expert skier. My boots fit very tight to ensure good ski control. You need a thin sock as opposed to cushioned, thick socks get a good feel of the skis. Apparently, from the package, there is an even thinner sock more demanding skiing. This is rather thin, so it should be good enough and still give some warmth. I have not skied with them yet, so we'll see about sweat wicking and all that good performance stuff. Yesterday, at the premier ski shop near Sugarloaf, I paid $23 and change including tax. I will get one or two more pairs here now that I see they are up to par the old ones with day glo colors from the early 1990's. BTW, I have about and 11 size foot and the 10.5-11.5 sock it what I bought.

Great Ski Sock

I prefer a thin ski sock for a fitted ski boot as well as padding in the right places (shins, etc.) where ongoing pressure while skiing can have an impact. Perfect sock for me, These are actually unisex socks (not women's only). I have several pair that are wearing out after many seasons so I needed to stock up on a few new pairs.

Best boot sock

These are the best socks for boots that I've found. Soft, warm and comfortable, they have a little extra thickness at the ankle and heel for added comfort.
