Great Coil
Purchased this coil for a replacement to a Briggs and Stratton 8hp electric start with no points ignition. Installed it with a .010 brass blade for spacing to the flywheel. Attached the ground terminal and high tension lead to the spark plug and it fired up immediately. Wonderful! Only three things would need to be improved to get a perfect 10. One, the high tension lead to way to long, two, there is not insulating boot and three that if the spark plug terminal was not crimped on I could have cut the lead to the proper size and then let me install the terminal.

Works great on 8HP B&S upright, 1979 toro snowblower.
This worked GREAT on my upright 8HP Briggs and Stratton, on a 1979 Toro snowblower. I did the points and condenser two years ago and it needed it again. I did not want to pop the flywheel yet again and I heard about the modern coil. It went right on in place of the old one and I used an index card to gap it off the flywheel. Runs great! Just left the old points back in there to be forgotten. Spark plug wire on this coil is very long for this engine, That's fine though, it's no problem. Runs great and glad I can forget about points and condenser for the rest of the time I'm stuck with this 41 year old beast.

Item not as pictured. Will only work for engines without an attached air deflector
The old coil, as well as several still on the market, has 4 rivets, as shown in the photo. One of these rivets is used to hold the air deflector on a B&S 8hp engine. The coil that was shipped does not have this rivet. The coil looks to be well constructed, and I was willing to pay the higher price for Stens quality, but it is not the one advertised, and it does not fit my engine. I bought an Oregon version instead, which (as pictured) has the rivets, and works fine. I'm disappointed in Stens. They're usually better than the cheap knock-off versions.

Eliminated the need for points...11 hp vintage B&S 1976 engine Runs fine.
Worked fine. I Won't have to pull flywheel to reach points,any more.

It worked!
It got my 45 year old rototiller running again. Makes good spark and no more points & condenser to dick around with anymore! Installation was straightforward on the horizontal shaft, 8 hp, Briggs & Stratton engine.

Works great
I installed it on an o;ld rototiler from the 1970s (Briggs&Stratton 190402 model, 8 HP) which had a breaker point-condenser-coil problem. It works really well. I completely removed the point and condenser. Prior to that, I tried a cheaper model claimed to be solid state and it did not produce any spark.

Good price, fit and works great on an old cast iron 11hp briggs and stratton. Eliminate points, no need to pull flywheel
