A Good Choice
I just got a 54" mower and wanted something to make the cross leveling of the mowing deck easier. I read the reviews for the lesser expensive, but similar devices but decided to spend a bit more and get this unit. I am very happy that I stepped up to this more expensive device. This is the only one with an arm that retains its position once you remove if from under the deck. Some have commented about the arm pointer not lining up with the same indication on the scales on either side. The one I received had the scales on either side pretty well lined up. And at a measured 3", the pointer pointed at 3" on the scale. As I considered my choice, I was concerned that this gauge only measured to a blade height of 3.5" and my deck can go to 4.5". Other decks may go even higher. My thinking was that measuring at a higher deck position would provide more room for working under the deck. But since you are only concerned about the relative difference from left to right and from front to back, I realized I could could cut a short piece of 2x4 to place under the gauge to elevate it if needed. From a practical standpoint, I start with the side of the deck without the discharge opening. By feel, I set the arm to just touch the blade and then carefully tip it to the side to remove it. I then go to the discharge side, where I can actually see the blade and see what the difference, if any, is and make the needed adjustments. I can't imagine trying to do this with one of those gauges with arms that have no friction to keep the arm from moving from where you set it. Bottom line, this unit was worth the extra cost!

Very accurate but takes holding it to keep the edge on contact
Out of all of the deck leveling tools listed on amazon I believe this one is the best based on it being made of metal and being more durable. It seems that all others are made of plastic which led me to purchase this one. The only con I would have to give is that it will not stay connected against the blade tip as your adjusting it. You have to literally hold the arrow or the tip of it as your adjusting. If it had a spring or a way to keep it where you wanted it as you were adjusting it “that would be awesome” it is very accurate as far as the measurement goes which is the main thing. Over all I’m happy with it and don’t think I will ever have to buy another one unless they make something similar to this one that’s spring loaded

Its a good tool but the bolt and lock nut could have been a better fit, hole is slightly bigger causing a little play (slop) in reading

An "unlevel" level that's twice as expensive and twice as Inaccurate
This device is used for precise measuring and yet the device itself is not level or square. Read all the reviews that say it's not accurate. Some reviews say it's the label but It's not the label. It's metal construction that's subpar construction. There's one weld and the material welded was not leveled correctly. That makes everything else out of level. Notice the photo of the front view of level - the left and right arms are not level to each other. So one side of the scale says 3" and the other side of the scale says 2-3/4". That's 1/4" off on the device itself - and this is a MEASURING DEVICE. What the ****? This is not a complicated device. One weld and one bolt. Notice how many reviews point out that they had to modify the labels to get this accurate. It's not the labels - it's the construction of the device. Because the welds aren't level, the tip of the point that meets the blade is also not level. Come on. Is there any quality control? This unit is twice as expensive and twice as inaccurate. With all the reviews complaining about it not being accurate, you'd think the supplier would pull the inventory and correct the issue. The irony that a level is not level itself is hilarious. But the price charged for a level that is not level - unacceptable.

Stens 750-656 almost perfect
This metal deck guage is heavy duty readable on both sides of the guage and easier to use than flimsy plastic guages that can only be read on one side It is harder to accidentally moving the pointer when moving the guage around to get a better reading, not like the plastic guages that will move the pointer at the slightest touch. However, as previously stated by other reviews, the stick-on height labels are not matched. One side could read 2.5 inches and the other side may read up to 1/2" or more difference. I had to peel off one side and restick to match the other side which took several times because the labels are very sticky and you have to make the pointer immovable to help with the matchup.

Great Leveling Gauge
I was surprised how heavy this was when it arrived. The steel thickness is quite substantial. This tool should last forever even with daily use. The weight is sufficient for it to stand by itself. Worked great on my John Deere Garden Tractor.

Metering not the same on each side.
Like I had seen in other reviews (and thought they had a bad batch or hiccup in production), the stickers that show the level are different on the two sides. Pick your solution - adjust one of them. simply use a clip, magnet, or only look at the one side... but sort of annoying for what should be the best of these guages.
