I purchased this plate due to my special needs child with limited vision. Who has trouble with scooping or reaching and keeping this food inside his plate. With this plate there aren't any more spills due to the curve inside the upper lip, which is an extra wonder to this plate. We don't have any food on the place mats and there isn't anymore food left on the table. This plate is 9", large enough for adult servings. The non-skid bottom helps because the plate isn't sliding away as you are reaching for food. Spills are gone due to that upper curve inside the plate. You will need to apply the non-skid bottom pad when you receive the plate. When put on, it won't come off. If you are looking for mirco-wave plate this isn't it and it isn't recommended for the dishwasher. All in all, it's a small price to pay for a functional plate.

could be a lot better

The idea behind this bowl is great. For someone who cannot use a fork or spoon easily due to health issues, the lip works well. The problem is with the material it is made from. The bottom of the dish was slighty rounded. It comes with a rubber pad to stick on the bottom. The pad makes it slip resistant, but now it wobbles due to the slightly rounded bottom. I should have returned the item but needed its design. I would spend more for a dish that was made from ceramic or a heavier material. Also, due to the soft plastic this dish is made from, it grooves easily when using a knife making it harder to clean.

Missing parts

It didn’t come as a non skid plate. Nothing was on the bottom. It moves all over.

Good Plate

Love the lip on this plate. Easy to scoop food onto a fork/spoon. Can't microwave it, though and washing is a bit of a problem. Not sure about the plastic...would much rather a glass plate. Overall, very good.

Smaller than it looks

This plate is much smaller than it looks. The diameter is barely 12 inches and the space for food is more like 8 inches. Really a child sized plate, which I feel infantilizes elderly people who would use this plate. Elderly parent is resisting using this because of the small size and institutional look and feel. No matter how weak and shaky they are, I want my elders to feel normal when they use adaptive items, not like a child.

very handy and works well

This plate was for my 18-yr old grandson who is recovering from a traumatic brain injury. It works very well for what he needs because he cannot use his right arm and hand very well yet. It will be good for children also.

Inner lip plates

THESE PLATES ARE USED BY MY DISABLED GRANDDAUGHTER. MUCH BETTER THAN THE ONES WITH SUCTION CUPS. I WILL ALWAYS BUY THESE FOR HER. SO GLAD I FOUND THEM. THANK YOU SO MUCH AMAZON.COM
