Overpriced for what it is, and too flimsy.
Replacing these washer suspension rods is easy enough, but in my case the original ones wore out in less than 7 years. And in a bizarre related side note, in a phone call to Samsung tech support the rep had no idea that these dampers needed to be replaced in order to stop the machine from going out of balance during spin cycles!!?? YouTube videos once again proved to be a better resource. Realistically, these things ought to cost $15 to $20 each. They consist of a rod, a spring, and a couple of plastic end caps, and they are used on many different washers from many different brands. There is no reason for it to cost over a hundred bucks to replace the set. With better quality built in, they would last much longer as well. With the old Maytag washers of the 1960s and 1970s, I would bet that any sort of damper/suspension problems were extremely rare, as they were built like a tank. A very reliable tank. :-) If your washer is going out of balance during the spin cycle, check the parts list for your model and see if it uses a 4 rod damper system like this, and this part or one very much like it is probably what you need. Then check YouTube for install instructions.
