Lots of pictures comparing to early 90's "G" Craftsman made in USA socket

To my dismay I damaged one of my Craftsman sockets purchased in 1993. Craftsman tools have served me well but in recent years I have discovered other brands such as Williams, Wright, SK and Proto that are not that much more in price but are made in USA and high quality. I have also seen some made in Taiwan hand tools perform equal to and sometimes better than my good ole Craftsman set from the 90's. In the past 5 years I watched Sears replace most of the Craftsman hand tools with import suppliers, my first and last experience was with a set of box ended offset wrenches, just getting the wrenches our of the packaging saw the chrome chipping off. It was junk. But... Stanley Black and Decker (SB&D) bought the brand (not the tools) from Sears, these new Craftsman tools are not the same. As seen in my photos the socket construction is thicker, the 13mm socket thickness is the same as my "G" 1993 14mm socket. Etching and marking technique is different as well. Sears may have "specs" for their sockets, it is obvious SB&D is starting fresh and using their own designs for the new Craftsman tools they sell. These new Craftsman sockets, have a good chrome finish, everything you except is consistent, dedents for the ratchet are good and the etching is, in my opinion, easier to read than my older style sockets. I think for 3.50 replacement for an old Craftsman socket I cannot complain. I put these on par with all the other box store brands. I will suggest though that if you want higher quality, please consider brands such as Wright, SK and Proto. Btw Proto is another SB&D brand. I am slowly converting the 3/8 sockets to Wright (made in Barberton, OH just west of Akron), and I can't say enough how awesome the round head Proto ratchets made in Italy are but they give the Wright/SnapOn/SK a run for their money. Wright sets sell here on Amazon for about $110-150, the Proto round head ratchets from Italy also sold on Amazon go for about $30-120 depending on size and deals.

Genuine Craftsman - no complaints

It is what it is - a Craftsman socket to replace one I lost while replacing the rear main seal on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - 4.0L.

It's a craftsman branded socket with lifetime warranty

I stick to Craftsman sockets for ease of warranty if I break one. It's rare to happen. In my case im just buying one to replace a lost socket

Most used.

The 13mm is the most used metric I use, so picked up a couple so I could lose one. The sockets are well made, and 6 point, which is the ONLY type of socket I will buy.
