Easy Install, UNSTABLE PRICE

We added this Swanstone recessed niche to a client project that was a glue-up wall application. not a swanstone solution. Still looked great. Bought this in January of 2023 for $198, I know it was pricey athen, but it was a good solution for the space we had to work with. Fast forward two months later, another project, similar in scope and the price of this item jumped to $232. Almost a 20% increase. SMH

Strong, easy to install, looks great but with one flaw.

I love it but there is one problem, as others have stated. It is very strong - not flimsy at all. The flange around it gives plenty of coverage on the left and right sides so you will have plenty of silicone to prevent water intrusion into your wall. However, the flange on the top and bottom are not flat - there are thick caverns in them so you're left with only about 2 strips of 1/16" material in contact with the wall. It's not really enough for me to feel safe that there won't be water intrusion on the top or bottom. I'll address this by filling in those holes with caulk.

Much better than a tiled shampoo niche

Well made and very useful. The only thing I feel I have to do with these is a small modification before installation. The top and bottom edges in the back have an open slot about one-half inch deep the width of the shelf. The sides are flat in the back. I use some grout to fill up the hollow areas and make a smooth flat surface all around that meets the shower wall.

I thank Amazon for displaying this option as I was trying to figure out what kind of shelf to put in our shower remodel. Recessed into the wall, what could possibly be better? Perhaps our contractor could have custom built something like this but he didn't offer but was willing to build a frame to hold this. And it's large enough to hold those those giant size bottles of shampoo and conditioner, the shelf holds bar soap, razors, etc. Admittedly, I was concerned about the finish of this unit again my beautiful and carefully selected ceramic tile but the functionality of this unit is well worth any deviation in finishes.
