Didn't work for my fan - Check before buying
I wired it up and it did not work for my fan. It would spin up the fan and then turn off and continue doing that. If you read the instructions: **Load turns on and off repeatedly. • Load draws less than 0.3 A or 40 W • Improper load connected I took my fan apart and it was .33 A so it must have not been enough. I ended up getting the Lutron #MA-T51MNH-WH and that had a neutral wire in it. I guess that helps the circuit with a smaller draw. That works perfect and I am happy. Just wanted people to know to check before buying.

Easy to adjust the default time
Easy enough to install if you know how to install switches/outlets. Works much better than the old dial style times that wear out.

Pretty nice timer - does the job, good features
This is a very easy timer to install, and I am happy with it.... I basically just removed the plate, unplugged the existing wires, and plugged in the new ones. Had to fiddle with the grounding wire a bit (not an issue with the product....it was an issue with what was available in the junction box), but eventually managed to get a good connection to the existing grounds. This outlet supports both screw type terminals, and plug in terminals for 14 gauge wire (14 gauge max size for plug in terminals). No neutral wire is required. Apparently, the NEC allows you to also not ground the thing under very specific circumstances where a ground is not available. I had a ground available, so I used it. Note the following: This timer has a maximum current load rating of 5A (~600W). It is probably not appropriate for heating lamps (at least, it will be a close thing for these items - check your application). If you have a very tight fit in the junction box, you have to remove some metal fins from the side of the switch, and this will reduce the load rating by 1A or so. The timer has good features - you can use the rocker switch on the side to adjust the timer from 5 minutes to 60 minutes. It also has an "manual off" mode, activated by pressing the switch twice quickly. This turns on the switch until you manually turn it off. Nice feature.... It has an "off override" (used when changing lights, etc.) to ensure that power is shut off to the switched circuit. There is a little plastic piece you pull out from the front of the switch to activate this mode. On the negative side: The switch feels a little bit cheap and rickety....it's not super "solid". If you place your finger on the switch and move your finger slightly, the plastic switch will move a little bit...it's a little bit loose. Not a big deal, and I don't have any concerns about longevity/reliability - it's just simply an aesthetic issue. I haven't measured this, but I think there may be a very small (less than 1W?) amount of standby power used when the switch is OFF. It feels very slightly warm to the touch when the switch has been off for a while. Again, I'm not sure about this. It also may be normal for these types of switches. For certain, there is some loss in the switch when it is in the ON position. The switch warms up slightly when the switched circuit is drawing current. Not sure how much loss there is, probably a few % of the load wattage. I suppose this is normal for these types of switches, but I don't really know. ----------------- Edit: This switch is still going strong. I like it! I recently discovered (reading documentation on Lutron website), that there are a couple of nice features that I didn't know about, which can be useful in certain situations: - You can make sure that the timer ALWAYS reverts back to a certain "timeout" period (say 15 minutes), even if someone manually adjusts it one time to make the period shorter or longer. This is useful if you have kids fiddling with the lights, or someone who doesn't know how to use it, and they accidentally adjust the timeout period. This way, you don't always have to be adjusting it back to the right setting (say, for a bathroom fan, you might always want 30 minutes of run time). - You can override the "double-click" function, which normally turns the light on without timer (it stays on until turned off). If you always want the light to turn off, without the possibility of it staying on indefinitely, you can change the mode of the switch so that a double click will result in the maximum timeout period (60 minutes). Both of these modes are accessed via a relatively simple programming sequence - pull out the FASS switch, hold the switch button down, push FASS switch back in while continuing to hold down switch button for 5 more seconds. Then you use a sequence of pushes and selections using the small rocker switch to navigate through the "menus". See the Lutron site for more information. I didn't see this information in the manual that came with the switch....

Nice features but may not work with many modern fan/light combos
I had fairly large sized bathroom fans installed. The fan was turning off and on. The electrician couldn't determine why. I found in the instructions for the switch that it is a known problem if the device doesn't pull enough power when on. I don't recall seeing that in the ad but maybe I missed it. The DC motor in some of these are so efficient that even after switching it to full power it wasn't drawing enough. We then jumped the light so the light and fan are both on the timer. This was working for a while but at times starts flashing off and on even though the specs show it should be pulling enough amps to meet the switches requirements. I would say this should work on any older fan setup, especially with an old light. It may not work on newer fans that are efficient and have a built-in LED lamp. The one I have on an older bathroom fan and light works well. I like that you can preset the time it stays on and that it flashes the unit off and on to let you know the set time is about up.

Set it once, intuitive controls, easy to install, saves money in the long run
I have put these timers in all bathrooms in the house. They are easy to wire-no need to determine the line and load wires, no neutral wire hookup. Adjusting the timer is intuitive, no need for an instruction manual. Once you determine the time you want, you only have to push the button on for any future use, unless you change the duration again. We have grand kids visiting a lot, and you can't count on them to turn off the fan. Which means we could be pushing large volumes of conditioned air outside for hours. This is a very convenient fail safe option for that, saves money in the long run. Out of four I purchased, one was defective. But I got that one from the Amazon Warehouse, so I assume it was a defective return that got mixed in with the stock to be resold. Not really a problem, although it did take a half hour of trouble shooting to determine it was a defective switch. Still, the Warehouse price more than makes up for the inconvenience in this one particular case. I've looked at home automation for lighting controls, and frankly this sort of switch appeals to me more. I've put Lutron motion sensor switches in several closets and the furnace room. There is no need to learn a new user interface, no worries that the software will become outdated, your privacy is maintained (a lot of digital solutions are controlled at servers maintained by the manufacturer); and finally, the cost is a lot lower for this sort of low-tech home automation. It makes the house more comfortable to live in. In the laundry room, for example, I can walk in with a full load of laundry and no free hand, and the lights just come on. I leave and don't have to worry about shutting off the light, because it will go off in five minutes anyway.

Great Replacement of Manual Switch on Bathroom Fan
Installation was easy, but was a tight fit between another switch and a receptacle. It operates perfectly. I could not find the ivory-colored unit anywhere, so was happy to get it from Amazon.

Looks fantastic and operates flawlessly
Looks fantastic and operates flawlessly. The lights give a subtle animated "countdown" when in use, which is a nice little touch.

Works great for bathroom fan
After I first installed it there was some weird behaviour - it kept turning off and on over and over. However since then it has not happened again. However this is great for the bathroom fan - can leave it running after having a steamy shower and it will help remove the condensation.
