Great upgrade!

I got these to replace my cranks on my 20 year old Kolbe casement windows. Super easy to replace! Looks so much never too without the crank handle sticking out!

Effective at modernizing old window cranks

These folding window operators worked great to modernizing 20 year old windows. They were replacing K and K cranks that I could not get in a folding style. The bodies are molded plastic (as were the crank housings in the prior operators) while the handles are cast metal (aluminum?). The bodies are a bit higher profile than the prior bodies but the handles fold down snugly into the body and it looks quite attractive after installation. I have now replaced about 18 of these and will be doing the rest shortly. The only complaint I have is that the metal cranks (with set screws) are spray painted with the set screws in place and they are hard to loosen without creating burrs or possibly even striping the top off the screw. I had to work these carefully after damaging one. Overall I am quite happy with the product.

Perfect fit for our 1991 Marvin Casemasters

Other reviewers mentioned that the set screws were painted in. I found this to be no issue with a proper sized precision electronics screwdriver. Also, it is also true that the white isn't a crisp white, but we found that it still looks great on white trimmed windows even if it isn't a dead match. Nice very glossy finish, you wouldn't want to ruin it by painting. All in all a big improvement over the Marvin flip handles we had before. The fit was perfect, the cover snaps on nicely and stays in place, and the handle woks better than the Marvin flip fold because it's a little longer. Great product, we just ordered 20 of them for all the casements in the house after trying a pair.

Solid build and look

Did not use the cover for crank mechanicals because I only needed the handle. The handle I was able to use with the preexisting crank mechanism and cover. Color was perfect and connection was good when done. Matches all my other handle hardware.

Perfect fit!

These handles were a perfect replacement on my Marvin windows! The little screws were a bit tight, but no big deal to remove. They look just like the Marvin handles on the new windows, so I'm a happy customer.

Cleaner Look

Easy to install and a much cleaner look than the old style gray metal rollouts. The blinds can easily cover the nested rollout. It’s not a perfect look but using a small strip of magnetic tape on the blind and sill I am able to make the blind stay parallel to the window sill. This is certainly much cheaper than replacing the entire window.

I only bought two because I read all the reviews and was concerned about the three issues raised. So let me address those first. There is a concern that the locking screw is painted into the body, and that they ended up sending it back because they damaged the piece. The screw is painted into the body and it is pretty tight to break that "paint lock". Thankfully I read the reviews and used a more robust screwdriver than the tiny one I would have used, and I was much more deliberate in keeping strong pressure to keep it engaged in the slot while twisting strongly to break the "paint lock". Both "paint locks" broke nicely and now the locking screw operates properly with no fear of stripping it. As long as you know the issue and use methods like I did, you won't have a problem. I had no problem and expect no problems on the 12 more that I just ordered. Another review said they were made of cheap pot metal and disintegrated in their hands. Yes, poured metal. No, not poor quality. No, they are not falling apart in my hands. They appear to be pretty robust and I do expect to get lots of use out of them without failure. The other issue raised was about it being a yellow white. Attached is a picture of the crank and cover on a very bright white trim (Benjamin Moore CC-10 Ultra White to be exact). When I looked for the off white the first time I did not see it, but I looked harder and yes, it is very slightly yellow tinted. But had I not read about it, I would never have seen it because it is so slight and very subtle. You can look at the picture and decide for yourself. They install nicely and are quite a robust design. I believe they will last a long time. I really like them and they definitely are low enough profile that my blinds now clear the handle. The only POSSIBLE negative, but not a negative to me, is that the handle folds to the left only. You cannot reverse them. But from my perspective I like that because they are all the same so I will be able to flip them out without really looking. So only you can decide if that is a bad thing. So I only ordered two, and tried them out, and now I have ordered 12 more for the rest of my windows! They are fantastic!
