My bird likes it.
Very convenient design. The base is sturdy with a flexibly neck section at the top of the lamp. If doesn’t give much room for height adjustment but can swivel up and down with the lamp oriented properly about 2 feet. 8.5/10

Your birds need this! Even if it's not a dark room
Such a difference from day one that I feel bad thinking they were fine with indirect sunlight and lamps. Huge difference in parakeets activity and obvious happiness within hours. I wish I'd known sooner.

Better design than previous model
I have several older models of this lamp, and I hesitated to get this newer model. Now, I am glad that I purchased it. The newer model is much more sturdier in terms of the neck and base, although I can tell right away that it will become loose just like the older models. The lamp area is definitely an improvement. I am not sure whether it is because of the lamp's design or the coating underneath where the bulb is housed, but it emits much more light than the older models I have.

A good solution for bird lighting
I like the lamp overall. When assembled it seems sturdy and the flexible gooseneck doesnt feel too cheap. Should have been taller. But the biggest complaint is the reflector. It feels cheap and it should have been wider and a bit longer. The refraction ability seems ok but i bet it could have been better. Overall the fixture and light are a far cheaper solution than other legit options. This bulb has been tested by a few seperate labs. And its much better than some other more expensive options. Currently used for a quaker in a 30x20x36 cage. It lights it up nicely and my baby seems to appreciate it!

Not the steadiest.
Shipping was in the box it’s packaged in. Poor and opened. Some damage but ok. The assembly went ok, but the screwed together joints/poles go together well but they are the week spot. They bend/warp at those joints. Be very careful during assembly and moving it.

Good value, gets the job done.
Good value, gets the job done. Not totally sturdy or stable, but hasn't fallen over. I've heard not great things about this light, but I've not had any issues with it and my pigeon got more happy and more sassy with his sunlight.

bad reviews are unfounded
To those who wrote bad reviews concerning this product not being able to hold its own weight of the light bulb. This is truly unfounded, as anyone with any minor mechanical know how to read instructions, each articulation point has a little knob that you tighten in order to lock the arm into position. That way the light bulb will not pull the unit out of position. If one reads the directions, then one gains this knowledge. Also, a quick inspection of the whole unit by those of us that have a greater understanding of basic stuff like this will grasp this concept with greater speed. I have had nothing but success with this light. It has been adjusted it into many different positions with great success. While the other reviews are correct, the upper portion of this lamp is plastic, it does its job very well and is aesthetically pleasing in most decor. My plants, conures and cockatoos all agree too that this is a great product. Coupled with an outlet timer, this works even better. I set my timer to turn it on just after sunrise and turn off around 8pm. This works great, as it gives maximum UV light time to all my animals and plants in the bird room. I will be getting another unit real soon to put in the main living space where the birds spend a lot of time on the weekends, so I don't have to continuously move the lamp from room to room. One must be keenly aware however. this unit DOES NOT come with a bulb. You will have to purchase this separately, and can in some cases cost just as much as the lamp itself so beware. Aside from the added nuisance of the bulb, this is a five star product and will gladly recommend this lamp to anyone looking for such a product.

My naked Scarlet Macaw improved immediately!
I had tried a few things, over the counter then I took Merlin my Scarlet Macaw to my avian vet. We went over all the possibilities and considered Lupron but he said let's try these other things first. He gave me an anti itch spray, anti fungal and antibiotic to mix in his water. He also recommended more fresh fruits and veggies and as an afterthought discussed lighting. I tried the other things without noting much improvement in two week period. I ordered the floor lamp and the recommended bulb and started using it. He improved immediately. I noticed an improved appetite and vigor then after a few days feathers started popping out everywhere. He was scared of the light at first (he has a huge metal cage made as indoor or outdoor aviary like commercial hotels use) he was moving away from it. Now he moves toward it several times a day. He is much more vocal again and playful. I am very happy with the ease of putting it together and it was ready to use in about 5 minutes. My parrot is almost back to his full feather gorgeous scarlet colors. I like the flexibility in the neck so that I am able to point it correctly because as I said he has a huge cage and I did not want to point it in his eyes but to get the most coverage possible without him grabbing it. I will post a photo soon, uploaded too many at the moment.

I like it but you some care needed
I found that you need to tighten the lamp into the base from time to time and then it's not wobbley. Mine came with a European plug but I found I could push it into a shaver adapter plug which I already had. The makers claim it can be used up to 6 feet, that could be right if it points straight up but the instuctions say it must be over the top of the cage at leat 12-14 inches from the parrot or it may get eye damage so I put the lamp on flat wooded chair next the cage. All this is not ideal. I do like that the only cables are at floor level, my parrot loves to chew exposed cables while she is out of the cage. I have two of these lights now I got one somwhere else about 4 moths ago, that one came the a UK plug All in all a reasonable buy for the money, but take care putting it together.

As usual it's semi broken
This is the 4th lamp of its kind I have ordered (2nd of this new design) and the first one was plastic and completely broke apart in months the 2nd never threaded onto the base the 3rd (I got from a parrot supply place) is this design and works perfectly and seems to stick together and this one won't attach to its base completely so is wobbly. Not sure if any reviewers mentioned this as I did't bother reading after the other one i got that worked fine worked well fine but it comes with an EU plug so buy an adaptor. Sadly out of all the lights this is still the best (unless you can out in ceiling fluorescents)...

NO BULB INCLUDED
No bulb included add a bulb and price accordingly. This item says its a KIT which you would think everything is included. Why no bulb included and price up accordingly

Have not been able to see if it works yet, because it needs a bulb - another £28+ and a suitable two pin socket. I have heard that people have bought this Floor Lamp and it arrived with a three pin plug and appropriate lamp... so I was disappointed and think that the description should be more informative in this respect.
