Good tailight, larger

Bought 2 of these for my Dad's trailer. He has the license plate on the rear tailgate, so I thought I'd just buy 2 of these since I don't need a license plate light. But then I got them and realized that they are only to be mounted on the "curb side" since the other side is supposed to have the light for the plate. Not a big deal, except that the mounting holes are slots so mounting it on the other side (upside down) would allow for the potential to vibrate off. But then I went out to put them on the trailer and found out that they are so big they don't match up with the metal brackets on the trailers... I could only use on of the the two bolt holes. And they stuck out further than the wheel fenders. So I just mounted them vertically (so the running light was on top) and it worked out OK. I still only used 1 of the mounting bolts, but I put a self-drilling sheet metal screw through the plastic to make a 2nd mounting point. (this is OK since there are already holes in the case to allow any water to drain) I downgraded them a 4 star review since they don't post the mounting hole schematic online. If they showed the mounting hole dimensions you could double check this sort of thing ahead of time.

3 prong adapter

Three prong connectors!!!!!! I have given this product a three star review because of lack of pictures and information. The PM 856 and the PM 856L ( L stands for an additional light that lights up the license plate. Which happens to be the left light if looking at your trailer from behind it.) I bought this light as a exact replacement for both my PM 856L and 856. ( both of my original light were cracked but functional when I boat my boat trailer.) My trailer wiring and original 856's lights have a three prong connector. ( you would know if your does). I read other reviews about these having the connector. I figured that because it was a exact replace to this one, it would also have the three prong connector. IT DOES NOT. Because there's very little wiring sticking out from my trailer to the three prong connector, I had to splice the wires and attach the old three prong connectors. This changes the dynamics from two possible corrosion points to four possible corrosion points. That being said, the lights were a fair price, Peterson MFG corporate office was very friendly and helpful, the product is good.

The other one works just fine, but I thought I would get this one

This picture is the tail light I ordered to match the other side, because someone broke the right side. But this is not the light I received. The other one works just fine, but I thought I would get this one. I don't mean to complain. Just for future reference please don't show a picture if it is not in stock. Thank you Sherry Fairley

Works great !! I used it 3 times submersed in the water putting the boat in and out of the water. One thing to keep in mind when installing - I tested it wired up but not mounted to the trailer (without connecting the ground to the trailer) and pulled my hair out for a half hour until I figured it out.

A whole lot better

This is a hole lot better light than the one I replaced . If not hit , It won't rust or quit.

Bought in 2018 - Dead in 2022

My original tail light was damaged while back up my trailer. I bought this one as a replacement. The other drivers side light is original LED that came with the trailer is still working fine. This replacement light is out with the exception of one LED. Would not buy this one again. Hope this is helpful to someone

Peterson Piranha Low Profile LED Stop/Turn/Tail Trailer Light Model#V856

The Peterson Model#V856,is easy to install with very good instructions to follow.On the light it's self is marked to tell you where the wires go.The lights look great on my trailer and they work great.I would like to see the price of the lights be a little cheaper.But as the old saying goes,you get what you pay for.They are nice lights.
