Oregon Spindle

I ordered this as a replacement for a 52" toro which only requires removing the pulley provided and replacing with your old pulley. To do this you will need to remove the top nut that holds the assembly together and slide the existing pulley up and off. As i had the unit apart I took the opportunity to inspect the inside condition of the new spindle. Bearings were packed and thats it. Two things necessary to get any life from this unit: fill with grease and torque the top nut. The nut was torqued to less than 60 ft/lbs. I snugged it to 95 and added grease and no problems so far with 20 hours. Toro recommends 100+ but this is not a Toro spindle, so , why push the envelope? After installing the first spindle and having good results i ordered a backup thats now in the cabinet for when the next one needs replacing. The packaging was poor and the unit should have been torqued and full of grease, ready to bolt on and cut grass. That's the reason for the 3 stars. If i wouldn't have checked it before using i would probably give it a 1 or 0 because i know it would have burned up.

Good Part just not the one I needed

Looked like a great spindle it just was not the proper size for my mower. Amazon was great about taking it back and refunding my money. Thank You! Amazon

Oregon Spindle 82-676

I would rate this zero stars if given the option as I have had 3 out of 4 fail within 2 hours run time. after the 2nd failure of 3 purchased thru Amazon they did not want to replace with another spindle for fear I would have the same problem so Amazon refunded the purchase. I then ordered one from a distributor not associated with Amazon hoping I would find one from a different batch. No Luck the parts was super tight out of the box and would not free up even after trying to spin with an impact gun. So I returned it to that distributor and ordered OEM Toro part. I wish Oregon would put customer service contact information with there products so customers could contact them directly with these problems. Also the Oregon containers need some improvement in packaging as 2 of the parts had the grease fitting broken off. I had replacement fittings on hand so this was not that inconvenient for me but may be for some customers.

Don’t buy

Machined wrong. Bearings were not tight so it wore the seals out. Didn’t even last a year.
