Realistic, Life Sized Pieces
The lettuce and bread are by far the BEST pieces from this set! The flex of the lettuce makes it extremely realistic and the bread has actual "texture" A very convincing piece of wheat bread. The orange is realistic but smaller, making it more of a mandarin or tangerine. The pretzels are not as realistic but are made from a very thick, quality plastic. This is a quality set with life sized pieces as compared to some of the cheaper pretend food that can be quite tiny and squished to the point of no return by applying any amount of pressure. I actually prefer the life sized pieces this set offers as compared to the New Sprouts smaller sizing. We own all 3 of these Pretend and Play sets and have found them to be better overall since my kids like the idea of playing with "real food" not toy sized versions made for them...I am sure this depends on the child. I wish I could find more of the Pretend Play sized sets but it seems they are expanding the smaller sized New Sprouts line instead.

Great Healthy Lunch
The Healthy Lunch set contains 2 wheat bread slices, 2 turkey slices, slice of cheese, slice of tomato, slice of lettuce, 4 celery sticks, bunch of grapes, orange, carton of milk, 2 pretzels, and basket. Cons: wheat bread is a bit dark Pros: great selection and very realistic, carton of milk is cute I love that Learning Resources food is bendable. The Bread, turkey slices, cheese, lettuce and celery sticks give a bit which makes them much more realistic. The coloring is great and durable. You can make an even wider variety of sandwiches if you buy theLearning Resources Sandwich Set, Set Of 14 - Colors May Vary as well. By the way, I contacted Learning Resources about the safety of their plastic and this is their response. "We take safety very seriously and all of our products meet or exceed safety standards. I am writing to assure you that all our product meets Learning Resources high standards for toy safety. They do NOT contain phthalates or lead and are made of PVC and low density polyethylene. They do not contain BPA and is made with PVC plastics. We take safety very for all of our children's products and toys are evaluated against the standards set forth by the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). This includes testing for certain phthalates (a plasticizer used to make plastic soft), lead in paint, lead in substrate and compliance with the testing guidelines set forth by ASTM F-963."

Realistic play food
I read the reviews where people were saying that the quality of this pack was subpar and I see what they are talking about. However, it's still a much better quality than most play food I've come across. I've only recently discovered the Learning Resources food and I guess I got the "new" style of food on my first go-around...and I'm thankful I did or I wouldn't know of the amazing quality. If I hadn't, I would have probably given this five-stars. The durability of the shopping big basket is great. I have four kids who seem to be on a mission to see who can destroy more things, so they have out this through the wringer but you would never know it. Yes, the food isn't as nice as it would be in the new packs, but it's still really good. Also, I got a pretty good deal considering what a similar, much lower quality set goes for in the box stores.

Great fake food!
I got this set for my 22-month-old son who is just starting to get into pretend play. I also purchased the Green Toys Dish Set to use with it. He loves making sandwiches and soup with this set and the dishes and spent about 30 minutes with it when we first opened it. That is a long time for him to play with anything. The cheese and lettuce and my favorites. He tried to bite the cheese when he first saw it. It resembles a Kraft single slice. He enjoyed pretending to pour the milk into the cups and into bowls to make cereal. He likes to put things into the basket and carry them around. This set is well worth the money spent. I plan to get him the dinner and breakfast sets, too. I washed everything before I let him play with it because a couple of the pieces looked dirty. They washed up easily. I recommend getting some kind of dish set to use along with this. Great, durable play food that should last us many years.

Lots of benefits...
My daughter has lots of play food, but this is by far the best. It gets her accustomed to associating fruits & vegetables with meals & snacks and making healthy food & drink choices more of a norm. I especially appreciate the wheat bread. Everyone pushes cheap, white bread on our kids, and I like that when she puts together a sandwich (made from really well made play food), she gets used to using wheat bread and adding nice green lettuce and bright tomatoes. We now have to have lettuce added to her Happy Meal burgers when we go to McDonalds, and I LOVE that! She also even has fun with the basket it all comes in when she plays grocery store (selecting fruits and vegetables, of course). Kids loose interest in their toys so quickly, but this is one she consistently plays with over and over again. I also highly recommend the breakfast and dinner sets, too. The quality in these toys far exceeds that of her other play food, making it really stand out from the rest. Two big thumbs up!

Better than most
I ordered this for my niece's third birthday. It just came in the mail so I haven't given it to her yet but I'm sure she will love it. I have a good first impression of this product. Items include: 2 wheat bread slices, 2 turkey slices, slice of cheese, slice of tomato, slice of lettuce, 4 small celery sticks, small grape bunch, orange, 2 pretzels, carton of milk, basket, Activity Guide. Pros: -Good quality -Realistic look -Good size for most pieces -Nice material/texture -Cute basket to store food Cons: -Wheat bread is a little dark -Grape bunch is on the small side -Tomato slice is on the small side -Didn't come with the Activity Guide (expected this due to several other posts) Overall, I really like this product and would recommend it.
