I purchased this light nine months ago, and I love it! Beware, it does take up a large footprint. My psychologist recommended I look into purchasing a light, and said to make sure that it was full-spectrum and at least 10,000 lux. This one was more expensive than several other options, but I really liked the look of it. I still do! My not-so-little pyramid of happy, as I think of it. I also chose this one because it is brighter than many, meaning it can sit a little further back and still work. And I was surprised at how well this works for me! I use it as recommended: placed just to the left of my monitor, about 18” back from where I sit. While it is sometimes annoying to have to use it this way, this is NOT impacting my review because all lights for this disorder would cause the same annoyance when used appropriately. They HAVE to be in your field of view, and HAVE to shine into your eyeballs. So. What this lamp has going for it is that it is a super-broad field of intense light, and not just a small spot of it. Other lamps I’ve used can be too much like having a flashlight sitting there in the edge of your vision. Speaking of the benefits, in addition to helping my mood tremendously, this has also had a very strong effect on my desire to go to bed at an appropriate time. I’m pretty good at staying up waaaay too late, and that is at least in part because my body doesn’t seem to send the “hey, I’m sleepy now. It is getting late. Hey! Super-late now, go to bed!” And so on. However, when I blast myself with this for at least an hour every morning, it has made that signal actually strong enough for me to pay attention, and actually get my butt to bed. This means that I’ve actually turned it on during the summer for a couple of days in a row, when I find my sleep cycle getting screwy. It doesn’t pop it back in line nearly as much as it does in winter (although that may be more because I use it every day once mornings are dark when I get to work), but it does help enough to get myself reset. I highly recommend this lamp! If you don’t want the fairly large footprint, my recommendation is to definitely look for the wider/taller lamps, that have a broad lighted area. Especially if you’ve had troubles in the past with a smaller lamp causing headaches or eye strain; the broader lamps put out the same amount of light, but since it is spread out it is less intense at a specific point. This has helped me a lot.

Be warned that this thing is big! I like that, it's a heck of a statement piece. Good price, I bought this for SAD and my physician recommended this particular brand. I love the look of the Luxor. NLT has responsive, helpful, fast customer service. Edited to add: I also want to say that I purchased a light from NTL because my physician, who has many decades experience with S.A.D., recommended this company. He said that many of the cheaper lights just don't do what they are supposed to do, and that NLT has a reputation for providing bulbs that do, well, whatever it is they are supposed to do. It's now mid December, when S.A.D. usually hits me pretty bad. I started using the light on November 1, when the time change happened (I had a medical issue this year that did not allow me to start a month earlier, as I had originally planned). I keep the light on my table where I have breakfast, coffee, and read the news in the morning, so getting my morning time in is easy, I just sit next to it for my a.m. routine. So far, so good. I am not feeling the extreme dive in mood that I'm usually immersed in by this time of year. I'll update again in a few months, for those considering this investment.

The light is powerful--yet use with caution
Powerful light, yet does give me a headache after more than a few minutes. I can see how it raises the mood for it is very powerful and illuminating. The only problem, the UV protector does not stay on or fit the product. Very badly constructed. I will also call the company for advise. If it wasn't so overpriced, I would buy it for a gift and it has great potential to lift the mood. I will use it carefully and re rate this as time goes on. So far, I feel I paid way too much for something that is not made well, but if it lifts the mood and helps in other ways, I will be forgiving and give it up to 5 stars, for that is what I really bought if for. Stay tuned in a few months.

Works OK, but poor fit and finish are disappointing +UPDATES
UPDATE 1: the manufacturer has been responsive and has promised to send a new unit. This should fix the problems noted and I would then rate the product ****. UPDATE 2: Well, the replacemenent also had quality of finish problems, For all their product sophistication, these folks seem to have to learn how to finish the edges of a piece of acrylic plastic and ship sheet metal without bending the corners. The factory people are very nice on the phone and seemed genuinely concerned, but then someone was on vacation or dropped the ball and the process of sending a replacement took several weeks. For $200 I will leave the rating at **. The lamp functions OK. The enclosure is tinny. The tray that supports the plastic lamp cover is bent. One corner of the plastic cover is raggedly cut. The plastic rattles in the tray. So - I bought it for the function, but the fit and finish are poor, especially for $200. There are functionally equivalent lamps, so I bought this for the unique enclosure design. Disappointed.

Awesome product-poor shipping from Amazon
I love this product, and I give the product itself 5 stars, however Amazon shipped it without properly labeling it fragile, and a small corner of the glass broke off during transit. I didn't send it back immediately bc it still works fine and I wanted to use it without waiting another couple of weeks, but may have it replaced by the manufacturer at some point.

bought for boyfriend
My boyfriend's doctor wanted him to use this specific light, and I knew he wouldn't order it, so I did it. Looks cheaply made for the price, and it's not small. My boyfriend hasn't been using it like he should. He said it was because, even slightly behind him, the light is too bright. I'm rating this based on what he's told me, but he's a typical guy and doesn't want to do what's suggested, probably because he feels like he's been ordered to use it. The next time I see him for a few days I'll have him bring it and try it myself.
