Matched Prior Grab Bars
My husband had been ill for several years and was having a great deal of trouble with balance and getting up and down in the bathroom. We had already put two of these up vertically on the wall and another on a cabinet. Mounted this one horizontally on a 1 inch board that we finished, and it was just what he needed to be able to stand and turn easily.

If you have the right tools and you measure before you buy, you will be just fine. Hit at least one wooden stud and use the metal sheet rock anchors (that flip open inside the wall) on the other end if there isn't a stud. Be sure to out the screw through the bracket before you push the anchor in the wall. you might need to have a helping hand to hold the bar while you tighten it. Pull the anchor outwards with a screw driver so it doesn't spin in the sheetrock hole. Drill the pilot holes in the stud to the full depth of the screw. Drill and impact driver helpful. Very sturdy - bought and installed a total of 3 - looks just like a regular towel rod.

My wife's illness' have progressed to the point where she can't stand alone and has trouble getting in and out of the tub, even with my assistance. Nearly 5 months ago I installed two of these grab bars on the tub walls, which are covered with ceramic tiles over a plaster. I waited this long before reviewing these grab bars to make sure they worked as well as advertised. I installed an 18" bar on the end wall, beneath the shower head, to use while standing and getting in and out of the tub. The second 24" bar is lower down on the back wall to assist her is sitting down and getting up from either her shower seat or bath lift chair. To install the bars on my tub walls, I purchased a ceramic tile drill to make a neat hole in the ceramic tile before using a masonry drill to penetrate the plaster wall. I inserted plastic wall anchors in the holes and used the screws provided with the bar to attach the bars to the walls. The bars provide the support needed for my wife to hold onto to get into the tub, then to sit on one of the seats to shower or take a tub bath. She feels more secure now in using the tub and I am pleased with the results and the quality of these grab bars.

I have this thing about towel bars: the 99% of those on the market that require mounting brackets, onto which you hang or slide the bar, tend to be a mess because they inevitably come loose, partly because the fit btw the bar and the bracket isn't tight enough, and partly because of bad installation into drywall or plaster. Years ago I discovered a beautifully styled, exposed screw (so, direct-mount) option and put that into 2 baths in a previous house - but it's no longer manufactured. Enter Moen's version. Yes, it's a tiny bit hefty (grab bar-looking) for a towel bar, but *not bad.* I have this in a bathroom now not for a grab bar but just towels, it's secure as a rock, and as Moen promised, it looks lovely. And I have no worries that it's going to start getting wobbly when my kids yank towels off of it. Great purchase.

Solid grab handle
I ordered 4 of these to mount on the entry/exit side of fiberglass shower stalls in two homes. I used Toggler Snaptoggles to mount them. While the capacity is limited by the fiberglass shower wall these are very solid mounted as I have them and serve the purpose of having something to grab onto getting into and out of the shower. I cut them to the length needed and used black foam craft material to form a "gasket". Look good and do the job.

Looks just like a towel bar!
We replaced all of our towel bars with these grips after my husband who was in a cast grabbed a towel bar when he lost his balance and crushed it. This was not the first time. These grips are super sturdy and fit right in the same place. We've had them for a few months now and are very happy. The real benefits will come over the years as we age and as our grandchildren try to use them for pull-ups! Be sure to install to a stud or use the provided anchors.
