Easy Install and smooth operation
I bought this after my previous valve got its cartridge stuck partially removed due to build up over 20 years. The threaded connections made for easy attachment of sharkbite fittings. Simple and easy install first time.

Moen proven quality
This Moen commercial positemp is highly recommended. I’ve been using it on my project and my clients love them. The commercial series is made with no plastic stem but all brass. Should you ever need to service the cartridge then just shut I off by turning the two slotted small stem to the vertical position and done! No need to get to the main shutoff valve. Moen customers service is great and service parts are plentiful. When installed made sure to remove the stem and let the water run for a few seconds to flush any small particles out before reinstalling it ( same tip applies to the shower heads ). Do it right, do it once!

What did I like? No surprises. After I installed it, it just works. With the plaster base in the ALTERNATE position it made a great upgrade to my fiberglass shower, combined with a Moen 1920 Remodeling Shower Cover Plate for 3-Handle to 2-Handle Shower Updates, Chrome and Moen T8370 Commercial Posi-Temp Pressure Balancing Valve Control, Chrome.

If it leaks, turn down your water pressure!
It's all brass, hopefully it'll last longer than plastic cartridges. Mine leaked upon install, it was driving me crazy. I kept taking it out, examining, lubing it and reinstalling. It was fine until I turned the water on, then it was a constant drip until it shut off the stops and reinstalled. Then I happened to read a forum about water pressure. I turned down my water pressure at the street by about 30%. No more leaks, and the house will consume less water. Try this if you have the same problem.

INTERNAL LEAKAGE
Although this valve appears to be well designed, it has a material flaw due to the pressure balancing system that it employs. The valve has a certain amount of internal "leakage" between hot and cold under all conditions. Therefore, if you wish to have a full cold shower, this is impossible. Hot water leaks to the cold side immediately upon opening the valve. Additionally, the same thing occurs when the valve is set to full hot. There is some leakage of cold water which slightly dilutes the hot water. This requires elevated hot hot water temperatures to ensure a sufficient temperature to shower. It additionally compromises the temperature of the bathtub due to the dilution. I would never buy it if Moen actually disclosed this poor design and the compromises that one must make to utilize it. Unfortunately, it is now buried in the wall so extracting it and returning it is not worth the effort.

Sold as new, however box was opened and parts missing.
We received our order today. Upon opening the Amazon shipping box it was noted that the Pressure Balancing valve box had been opened, the contents removed, disassembled and placed back into the Moen box, (just thrown back in). The plaster ground and screws had been removed from the valve and the parts shown, (on the illustrated parts sheet), on the cartridge stem removed. I will have to call Moen to determine what is missing. I don't have time to return the valve as it has to be installed tomorrow before the drywall is installed. If I had known that this was an "open box" I would not have purchased it. I now need to wonder what else has been removed from the valve assembly. Now pleased!

Moen 8372HD Commercial 1/2-Inch IPS Posi-Temp Valve, Brass
I bought this valve along with a commercial shower trim kit as part of a master bathroom renovation (removed tub/shower and installed a walk-in shower). I chose this 1/2-inch IPS valve based on my experience transitioning to PEX tubing from copper pipe. I've found that it is much easier and faster to use 1/2-inch IPS based PEX fittings as opposed to trying to sweat the regular PEX fittings. As far as I am concerned, the additional expense of the 1/2-inch IPS PEX fittings is more than offset by the time consuming and highly frustrating process (not to mention leaking connections) when sweating copper fittings.
