Cheap metals don’t work for very long.

Cheap metal materials don’t hold up for the long-haul seems as though everything’s geared to wear out fairly quickly. Maybe will come back to manufacturing in the USA and improve things down the road.

Fitted my thumb door latch and knob perfectly.

I ordered this latch from Amazon to replace my 25 years old original door latch that came with my house when new. The door knob and the thumb latch mechanism and holes aligned perfectly. The only tools I needed to complete the replacement were a Phillips screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver.

This is for INSIDE doors!

Despite the fact that the two plates in the picture show a cut-out for the small secondary plunger thing, that is not there on the main plunger piece. That's because this is for an indoor lock! The difference is that putting this on an outside door, you could easily use a credit card to push the main plunger back in and open a locked door. Maybe that's what "plain latch" means, but I don't really know. I sent this back, and ordered an outside one, but the quality of this one seemed good, it was just the wrong type for my door.

Compatible with old style Kwikset latches.

In my old, failed, plastic Kwikset latch, the "half-moon" arched the opposite way, towards the center of the door and away from the jam. This works regardless. All dimensions (cam opening and screw holes) are perfect. This one has no plastic. I'm sure it will outlive me.

Easy Install

My bedroom door’s latch had got jammed so I could never fully close my door & you could easily get in with a slight push even if it was locked. I ordered this latch & it came with everything except extra screws so I had to reuse my screws from the last latch (reason for 4 stars instead of 5). I was scared that the latch was way too long for my door hole but, there’s an easy way to shorten the length on the latch & it fit perfectly after. Really took under 5 mins, super easy (:

Fits Like a Glove

The barrel portion of the latch was a quick replacement for my Weiser door hardware. I didn't have to do any drilling or chiseling so it was a seamless replacement. The door works like new again. Thanks guys!

Not for exterior door use!

...looked far & wide for a latch to replace. I thought it was for exterior door, but it arrived, packaging was for interior use. It's exactly the same, but manufacturer claim the exterior piece is lubricated to withstand corrosion. I'll see how long it works, but fit & function is great!

Arrived in open packaging sealed with tape

Fit my door handle perfect. Worked like a charm to replace the door. This was not new product though. Arrived in an open package that was sealed with tape. There was a screw missing from the package but fortunately I did not need this. Buyer beware.
