Pretty good little tape
The tape measure works fine. There is no friction stop aside from your fingers on the rotating hub of the tape body, but that isn't much of a problem. The size is perfect for a small pack tool kit.

Wonderful!
I love this tape measure. I always know where it is. It is just the right size to use around inside the house for a quick measure. Fits easily in your hand, not bulky like a carpenter's tape measure. I gave them out as stocking stuffers and everybody loved them.

A very good small (but not tiny) tape measure
If you want a compact tape measure you can actually use comfortably, this is the one. No, it is not tiny, if you want the smallest tape, there are better options. Also, it is not 'industrial', if you want a top-line tape for everyday carpenter use, there are better options. What this tape is, in my opinion, is about the best balance between 'compact' and 'usable' as I have found. Compared to the tiny tapes, it is more solid feeling, and has far more standout (a little over 3 feet for mine) and a tip that doesn't keep coming unhooked when you try to measure something. There is no 'lock' in the normal sense. One side of the tape has a disc on it about 2/3 or 4/3 the diameter of the tape itself, that is coupled to the rewind mechanism. Pressure on it (like you are trying to squeeze the sides together) holds the tape in place. With very little practice, it is easy to grab the tape, pull out what you need, and just 'hold' it in place with pressure. It also makes it very easy to control the rewind speed, which I like. Size is 2 1/4 inches in diameter, and 3/4 inch thick. It uses a magnet on the backside, instead of a clip like a standard tape, keeping it more compact, and with nothing to snag if you carry it in a pocket. It is a little bulky to carry in a pocket for everyday running around, for that get a truly compact tape (favorite ultra compact tape is my Komelon 10-ft keychain tape model 4110). For professional use, get a full-sized one (I like the Milwaukee and FastCap 16 or 25 footers). However, for something to carry in the glovebox, it is perfect. Or, if you are doing something where having a usable tape around would be helpful, but want to travel as light as possible, this is a very good choice. The little tiny tapes are nice where space is at a premium, but for just a little more size (mostly in thickness) you can have a tape that offers MUCH easier readability (The lines and numbers on the little 1/4 inch wide compact tape are TINY) along with 3 foot plus standout, this is a great choice.

Handy, not quite perfect but close
These are a handy little tape measure. I liked it enough to buy 2 more after getting the first one. After putting one in the freezer side of my side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, I got extras for a chest freezer and small dorm refrigerator on different floors of the house. No more going up and down stairs to retrieve the tape measure. It seems like no matter where such things are located, I need it on a different level of the house. I have had no trouble with the magnet, as other reviewers noted. I would say though, that mine are placed in low traffic areas, not on frequently used appliances/doors. I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: 1. It is not truly a "locking" tape measure. You can hold the button down to lock it but must keep holding it or it recoils. I don't consider that "locking". It's amazing how many times the locking feature comes in handy...until you don't have it. I think the description is a bit misleading in this regard. 2. It doesn't include metric markings. I get that it's small but they could have done metric on one side, inches on the other. I knew this when I bought it but was willing to do without because of other features. Overall, it's an attractive, handy tape measure for small tasks around the house.

Conveniently pocketable
Very handy. Minimalist construction makes it nice and compact while still practical and easy to use. Most of the time I find myself without a tape measure when I need one. That is usually because most are bulky and heavy to carry all the time. This one is small and light enough to carry easily in my pocket. I love the diameter scale on the reverse side. That's convenient because I work with and inspect pipes often. The "touch lock" is kind of silly. Basically, there is no lock...you just hold it open with your grip and it retracts when you release your grip. That's s not a lock...that is just called having fingers. Regardless of that marketing goofiness, it is still a convenient tool. Time will tell if the plastic construction will hold up over time but I'm ok with the weight reduction the plastic affords me so it is a compromise I'm ok with and this tool is inexpensive enough to replace if I manage to bust it up to the point of failure. Not like plastic isn't common on tape measures these days but in my experience, clear plastics tend to be more brittle and prone to cracking. This plastic seems to be slightly grippier than typical polycarbonate so maybe it's more durable too. Feels like quality for whatever that is worth.

Would love to give it a 5
Have been using these for years. I use this heavily almost everyday in all weather conditions Went through at least 8, always use them until the break, which is the reason i can't go to 5stars. Somehow the first thing that goes it the spring inside. Some ive gotten months from, unfortunately the latest one i maybe got a week.

Measure treasure
I tried to measure time with this. Turns out you can’t. But this little guy? Handy. Now I just measure everything else. Time is dumb. Numbers are not. And this little/quite long and sturdy tape isn’t dumb either.

You can not return this item period!
I was hoping they would send me a gold coloured tape,as was displayed on the web page,instead they sent me a dirty silver coloured one,I wanted to use on my computer desk top for when I shop on line,and so to look pretty not so labouring,so now I'm stuck with this ugly looking thing.Yes it is solid and it does work.

Very good tape.
This tape is good for my trade. Would be nice if they made a longer one for bigger pipes but this works for most of what I do. Also the numbers tend to wear off to fast so I always order 2 at a time.
