Melissa & Doug vs. KidKraft Step Stool - M&D Wins
I couldn't quite decide between Melissa and Doug's step stool or KidKraft's. Since I needed two, I bought both. Here are my thoughts: KidKraft - Harder to assemble (I find their screws strip easily, have had this issue in the past) - Scratches easily (came with a few and already scuffed up) - The angle in the back makes it hard to put up against the sink like others mentioned - Is solid wood which I like but added to difficulty to get the screws to catch - No rubber grips from the bottom, so worry it will slide more easily on the ground Melissa & Doug - Easy to Assemble - Sturdy - Particle board but I find that it's very solid and strong - Slightly wider than KidKraft it feels like and my daughter can climb up it easily on her own - Rubber grips for the bottom keep it from sliding I put non-slip tape on both to be safe. Overall, both are good products and look good. But if I had it to do over again, I'd buy two Melissa & Doug step stools. I'm using these for the sink, not sure about them for potty training.

Sturdy enough for a toddler
This thing was a pain in the ass to get together. My husband had to help me. I don't know if I would have been able to do it myself. When you get to the last step you have all of the horizontal pieces are vertical vertical and floating around because just loose dowels are provided to hold them in place and it is REALLY hard to get everything lined up at the same time so you can start screwing the last side on. I messed with it for quite awhile before calling for help. It was still challenging with two people. Once you get past that it is a nice little stool. It is the perfect height next to my toddlers bed so she can use it to get up on her bed. Add anti slip tape to the steps for safety and also on the bottom if you’re using it on a wood floor.

Strong and Sturdy Stool!
I ordered this stool as a gift for my five-year old niece. She is not quite able to reach the clothes in her closet and I thought this would be perfect for it. I wanted a stool with two steps so that she could get up a bit higher, but I needed it to be sturdy and solid. I was looking at plastic step stools because they seemed to be less expensive compared to other wooden steps. Admittedly, I was a bit concerned about the quality of this based on the price. I decided to take a chance on it, and am glad I did! The stool came securely packaged from Amazon, but it was not assembled when it arrived. The directions were clear and I was able to put it together with a screwdriver and the included hardware in about ten minutes. Once together, the stool looks great. It is a bright white finish and was able to be washed down easily. What you can't tell from the picture is how sturdy it is. It is well built and solid, but it is not too heavy. My niece is able to pick it up and move it without effort. The back legs on the stool angle out just a bit which make it nice and stable. I will be buying another one of these for use in the bathroom as well. I would recommend this product to anyone with young kids and wanting something that looks nicer than the basic plastic step stool.

Light and strong
I bought this for my toddler mainly for use in our kitchen. I trusted the previous reviews about it being slippery and bought clear non slip tape at the same time. My left hand is broken but I was still able to fully assemble the stool in about 10 min with one hand so I’d say it’s easy to assemble. After proper assembly I was amazed at how strong it turned out to be given how light it is. I weigh 190lbs and it supports my weight no problem. Yet it’s light enough for my toddler to drag around anywhere he wants ( hence I added the felt pads) great purchase! A year later and it’s held up to the abuse of a two kid house plus my wife that used it all the time

Decent for the price
For the price, this is a pretty decent step stool. Easy to assemble, we only had to add some wood glue because one of the screws created a small crack in the wood and we wanted to make sure everything stayed together. We are using it for my 5yr old to reach the clothes hanging in her closet. Good height, wished it was slightly wider and maybe have the steps be a little more deep, to give a better sense of stability to the kid climbing on it, but it works for its purpose. I followed the suggestion given in other reviews of adding some non-slip sticky tape on the steps to avoid the kid from slipping and falling off. We don't use it in the bathroom, so it wasn't a big concern, but just in case she was going on it with her socks on, it could be potentially hazardous.

Fits the bill
When our daughter started potty training, we needed something to help her reach our pedestal sink. Most step stools for kids are half this height and therefore ineffective. Even with this stool, she still has to reach a little, but it does the trick. We try to make sure she is always supervised when she is on it for safety, though - it is high, and she has a tendency to want it close to the sink, so her feet can hang off a little if she isn't careful. We have a small fold up step stool for another bathroom, and she has pinched her fingers trying to close it a couple of times, so that is one nice benefit to having this one. I remember other reviewers writing about adding some treads to help it be less slippery, but so far, that hasn't been an issue for us. My only problem is that the bottom is starting to show water damage already, and I don't yet know how this will affect long-term safety/performance. I imagine use in a bathroom would be considered part of it's intended uses, and with that in mind it should be able to withstand the occasional splash from a toddler. Otherwise, it's a great option, particularly if you need something with a little extra height.

Perfect Steps for Toddlers
Purchased for my daughter to be able to climb into her big girl bed. She can do it easily and it also supports my pregnant weight on it too so very strong! We added grippies to the bottom so it doesn’t slide away from the bed when she’s trying to get down. Perfect fit!

Poor quality
As per the photographs, a number of issues, many pieces with paint damaged, broken screw, diameter of wood pegs much smaller than the holes, stickers with number were very difficult to remove I had to use petrol. Very disappointed by this item, poor quality, poor conception, not worth £44. I didn't have the time to have it refunded, so I fixed it, I painted the chips, glue the pegs.

This nice and sturdy enough for a child.

Too expensive for low quality item. Not safe for toddlers
The top step is too narrow for toddler safety. There were scratches on both steps. Not safe for toddler use. Didn't realise it was flat pack. Disappointed with quality for price. Thought I was getting something higher quality for high price
