Here’s what you need to know
I’ve been using this model for 13 years. My last one finally gave out so I hopped on here to order another. Well, I thought let me read the comments first. Seems people were not happy. Lots of complaints about leaking and all sorts of other issues. I looked at other coffee maker brands and they weren’t great either so I was getting really frustrated. I thought buying a new coffee maker should be easier. It seems no matter what brand, they are not made the way they used to be. So off I went reading the Mr Coffee reviews again. I was starting to wonder if I should take a chance anyway because we never had all these problems. And they didn’t appear to be caused by users. Anyway, I saw one very valuable review. The guy said to get the model with the BLACK plastic middle panel! Said he got the one originally with the silver in the middle after his old one gave out and had issues. But before that he had told family members he liked the Mr Coffee makers because he used them for years and were great. Well they happened to picked up the model that had the black middle panel and they loved it and had no issues! So I took a chance and mine works perfectly. I was holding my breath when I first used it with a sponge in my hand lol. I’m so glad I saw his comment. I don’t know why the silver paneled ones are leaking? They are the exact same model except for this difference? I don’t usually write many reviews but I wanted to do this one in case others are getting frustrated by the bad reviews.

Great coffee maker.
This coffee maker works great and if you want a nice 10 cup coffee maker with a thermal carafe I recommend it. I've had it for a little over 2 months. Now, the details, for those of you who are at work, avoiding a nauseating project at the moment, and your IT department hasn't yet blocked Amazon: First of all I should say that I have an overriding frustration with devices designed by engineers who feel the need to add lots of bells and whistles rather than concentrating on sound, basic products that are designed to last. Ya feel me? Along those lines, I would like to mention that someone decided to build a timer into this thing that tells you how long it has been since the coffee was brewed. I can't tell you how useless this feature is for me since I'm the one who brews the coffee 90% of the time in my household and moreover I am and adult who is aware of the passage of time. (Apparently there are some people who actually aren't. One of them is a champion long distance runner. Who knew? I heard about it on a Ted Talk.) And even if I wasn't aware of the passage of time, I do happen to live in a house that has clocks - one of which is conveniently located on the coffee maker itself! So there is really not a way that I am not going to know that it has been awhile since the coffee was brewed. And, since this coffee maker has a thermal carafe and therefore the coffee is not on a burner getting stewed down to burnt tasting oblivion (which of course like the rest of you is why I got the one with the thermal carafe in the first place), I am not too concerned about how long it has been since the coffee was brewed. It's not like I'm gonna go to pour another cup of coffee, look at the timer, and exclaim to myself, "Well, crap! I was about to pour another cup of coffee but it has been 90 minutes since my coffee was brewed and that is just too long! If it had been only 60 minutes we'd be ok but 90 minutes? No way! Down the drain it goes!" Now....if the timer showed increments of hours or days, then it would be useful; I could bust out my coffee maker flow chart and make a decision whether it was time to head to the microwave, or brew another pot. So consider that, Engineer. BUT...if the timer display alone isn't sufficient, the machine also beeps loudly when that timer has run out - just an added safety measure I suppose. At least I assume that is what the beep is for. I have never actually run over to the coffee pot when it beeps to see if that is the case, I just know it happens. And I refuse to refer to the manual on this issue when I have many, many more important things to do such as writing reviews. The delay timer works great and I was able to figure out how to set the clock and the delay timer just by pressing buttons (without having to, gasp, actually read any instructions) so points for that. I did notice that the clock on the coffee maker has a dimmer function, which is wonderful, but the when you turn the delay timer on, that button is super bright and totally defeats the purpose of the dimmer on the clock because when are most of us going to set the delay timer? At night of course. The coffee maker isn't actually in my bedroom so I don't really care. I find it funny though because if you're going to include a dimmer on the clock, why not.....oh, nevermind. The thing comes with optional water filters and has a cute little dial which took me a little while to figure out but after busting out the reading glasses and looking close I realized there was a letter on the dial for each month of the year so you can replace the filter at the beginning of the month. Fun, right? I bought some filters because, why not? I have been changing them monthly so far because this is all still shiny and new. At some point I am pretty sure I will look at the dial and realize it is on February and I am in July. Some other reviews have mentioned a weird taste possibly from the filter. I rinse the filter before putting it in and I brew my coffee way too strong anyway and I haven't noticed any off flavors. And I have no problem with the placement of the filter basket on the side of the coffee maker. Adapt, people. I fill the filter basket pretty full because of aforementioned tendency to brew the coffee a little on the strong side, and it does not overflow easily, which is very helpful in my life. Some reviews have mentioned that the carafe pours slowly because of the configuration of the lid. So, that means it takes like 10.3 seconds to fill your mug rather than 6.8 seconds? Srsly peeple, quit whining. The thing doesn't dribble which is more important to me. And I'm right about everything. Thanks for reading and happy brewing!

Best hot coffee
This is the best coffee pot I have owned. I saw reviews saying coffee wasn't warm, and another saying coffee was like dirty water as it didn't brew correctly, I call BS on these reviews. I've bought 4 of these (3 as gifts) no issues at all. This coffee is brewed HOT, and stays hot at least 4 hours, I haven't ever had any coffee left after 4 hours so i can't attest to any longer than 4 hours. Since the coffee pot doesn't sit or heat from a burner, it never tastes burnt which makes for the worst coffee ever. This coffee maker heats the coffee during brew, and the insulated steel pot keep it HOT. It uses regular paper filter or a reusable filter, I prefer paper for a better taste and less clean up, simply throw the filter away. It also comes with a water filter, not sure this has any benefit, I've never had a coffee pot with a water filter, but its there so I use it, but its not required for it to work. Another review mentioned it feeling cheap I disagree! The bottom where the actual pot sits is plastic, as it has no burner. It is simply like a guide to make sure the pot is in the correct position to be filled with brewed coffee. The one thing that I experienced as user error on 2 occasions is not emptying the stairs less steel pot of all old coffee before setting up and brewing a new pot, which led to pot overflow. This happened because I failed to empty the pot of old coffee as the pot isn't see through, I didn't know there was coffee still in it. So now I just fully empty it after my last cup of the day. If you are on the fence, give it a try! And if its Prime, free returns, so no regrets. Lol

Not bad at all
I go this type of coffee maker a few years back as a present. It broke the day before my birthday , so I ordered a new one. It came super fast. There is just one thing that the old one did and this one does as well, I always have a little puddle under the carafe. I just can't figure out why. I only make 6 cups and always drink it up. I also make always sure the the carafe sits properly in its place. Other than that, love the product.

Mr. Coffee, you need to work on your customer service!
Well, lets start off on a positive note. The coffee maker is very stylish, love the removable water reservoir, the fact that the coffee basket slides in on the side (as opposed to the ones that you access via a lid that lifts up at the top and your coffee grounds inevitably end up in the reservoir that is located in the same compartment) , and the taste of the coffee is fantastic! The stainless steel thermal carafe does keep the coffee hot for hours afterwards. Amazon shipping was above expectations fast. I do not have Amazon Prime, and this arrived literally the next day!! A++ Amazon! A few quirky things on this coffee pot. 1) You cannot set the time while the coffee is brewing, or at anytime while the 2 hour coffee freshness meter is running. I literally thought my coffee pot was malfunctioning again (we'll get to that in a moment), and was going to box it up for return. If you turn off the coffee pot, or wait till the freshness cycle completes (you'll hear three beeps), you can then set the time. 2) The carafe is pretty small. My wife and I have fairly large coffee cups, and we maybe get 3 cups out of a full 10 cup batch. 3) The water filter is held in place with a ring, and on the first pot I received, it was so tight, I literally thought I was going to snap the holder right off the coffee pot opening it up the first time. On the 2nd coffee pot I received, this was not a problem. Now, to what got me to a 2 star rating, Mr. Coffee (Sunbeam) customer service!! The first coffee pot I received did not beep when the coffee was done. Many people have complained about the beep, but I personally like it. It's like a beacon that summons me to get my first cup of morning joy. If I don't hear it, I often leave the coffee sitting for far longer than needed. I thought I could live without the beep, however, but then the clean light came on. This is an indicator that tells you its time to run the clean cycle on your pot. This is a brand new machine! The indicator detects when it takes longer than 9.5 minutes to brew the coffee (in two consecutive brews), or when you have hit 90 brewing cycles. Obviously neither of these should be triggering the clean cycle. Also, steam continued to stream out of the back vent for the whole two hour freshness cycle, and no beeps were ever heard. And there was a very strong plastic taste in the coffee when we did drink it. I know its normal to get some when an appliance is brand new, but this seemed excessive. So obviously there was a problem. In the instruction manual it states, if you have a problem, do not return it, but call the warranty support line. So I did this. It took 45 minutes of hold time waiting for a customer support representative. They then spent a good 30-40 minutes on the phone walking me through multiple tests. They finally determined my coffee pot was defective and needed replacing. I was given a case #, and told to snap pics of the coffee maker, and once they received that, they would ship me a new coffee maker. They did not want the old one back, so they told me I could discard it. Luckily I didn't!! Several days later, I get a voice mail from the warranty department asking me to call them back. I call back, and this time I am on hold for just over an hour!! They now inform me that I do in fact need to send the old coffee pot back, but they will send me a return label, and once they receive the old coffee pot, they will send me a new one. Days go buy and I hear nothing. I finally send them an email, for I am not phoning again. A few more days go by and they respond with an email asking if I know anyone in the United States (I live in Canada) that they can ship the new coffee pot to, for they do not ship to Canada!!!! WTF???? This is when I lost it. I demanded that they send the coffee pot, that customer service is about making it right, and if you sell a coffee pot in Canada, you should be able to replace the coffee pot in Canada. Further to that, I told them that if they do not really offer replacement in Canada, then don't sell them here, or on Amazon.ca. I heard absolutely nothing. Days went by ... nothing. I logged a complaint with Sunbeam customer service (they apparently own Mr. Coffee) and told them what happened, and still nothing. So I eventually contacted Amazon, and they immediately sent me a return label, immediately created another order for a coffee pot (no charge) and shipped it out to me, which again arrived in like 2 days. My old coffee pot hadn't even left my city yet!! So, the coffee pot gets two stars, for I am sorry, but it could be the best coffee maker ever, if there is no customer service, it's not worth its weight in gold. How could any company ask you if you have a friend in another country to ship the product too??? What a huge inconvenience!!! Even if I had someone, I would not put them in the situation of having to receive my package, re-label, and then ship it to another country. It probably would have cost me an extra $30-$40 with customs fees, international shipping etc! Ridiculous!! Amazon, however gets 5 stars for their amazing customer service!! They went above and beyond to rectify a problem, that the manufacturer seemed to care nothing about. Absolutely nothing. No apologies. No phone call. No email. Nothing. I don't think I have ever experienced such horrible customer service in my life. So if you live in Canada (because this may not be an issue if you live in the USA), beware. If you have any issues with this machine, I suggest you completely ignore the manufacturers instructions about not returning it to where you bought it, and immediately return it to Amazon. Because unlike Mr. Coffee (Sunbeam), Amazon truly does care about the customer experience. A happy customer is a repeat customer. Hopefully Sunbeam figures that out soon. Update: 2020/04/03 So it has been just over a year with this coffee pot, and it has started flooding the counter on occasion. The carafe is empty, before we hit the start button. The grind is the same as we always make it. But for some reason, it just decides every now and then to have coffee pouring out where the filter basket goes in, and around the carafe itself. It is so annoying. My wife distrusts it so much that she has placed the whole coffee pot inside a large pizza pan, and that has saved us a few times already, but looks kind of junky on the counter. After the initial problems, the poor customer service from Mr. Cofffee, and now this, I am reducing my review to one star, and would not recommend anyone buying this coffee pot at all!

5 Year Review
Bought this 5 years ago. ($79.00 in 2017). Best coffee maker I have ever owned. I can still brew a full pot in the evening and it remains piping hot in the morning and since it has not been on a burner overnight, the flavor is still great. Full pot stays hot (not warm......hot) for 10+ hours. A half pot stays hot for 4+ hours. A quarter pot stays hot for 1-2hours. The removable water reservoir is great. I can't imagine going back to the days of having to pour water into a built in reservoir. Everything still works after an estimated 3,000 pots of coffee made over 5 years. The flimsy lid to the reservoir broke when it fell to the ground in 2018. Black duct tape fixed it and it has been good since. The rubber seal around the coffe pot lid wore out after a few years. I substituted with an elastic band and it works fine. I have never used the timer feature. The only technical flaw is that the counter used to indicate when you should run a cleaning cycle resets if you unplug the unit, I just run a cleaining cycle once a month instead.

A pretty good coffee marker with some flaws
I have been using this for about 2 months now. I bought it for the cottage, and for that it's fine but I would not want this as my everyday coffee maker. Good stuff: - Reasonable price - Pretty good brew quality, although not top shelf either - Insulated carafe works well - Fast brew time - Built-in filter Not-good stuff: -Brew temperature is too low for my liking - Grounds clean up is messy - Carafe design isn't brilliant; hard to clean - Filter gets dirty very quickly; they're cheap to replace, but a better design would have lengthened life

Good little machine
Good little coffee maker. Brew fast and coffee taste great. Stay warm for up to 2 hour which is great. They say 10 cup but more like 6 ( or maybe my mug are too big ? ). Easy to use and love the detachable water tray and the coffee tray, make cleaning and filling easier.

Not quite hot enough
We owned a Mr Coffee for over 30 years and it finally died so we bought another. This one works very quickly and makes good coffee. But it isn't hot enough. Add cream and sugar and stir and you can finish the cup in a few minutes. That's not hot enough for me, I like to linger over my coffee just a little bit. The old one we had made coffee much hotter. This one makes it more quickly but it's less enjoyable to drink.
