My Perfect Mother of the Bride Dress

I have searched, ordered and tried on at least 20 Mother of the Brides dresses. From trying on in stores to ordering a few and having to send them back. I’m 5’2” and 146lbs, 36C. Everything just fit off, too long, too big in torso, to tight, too scratchy, to old lady looking. I tried dresses in size 6 to size 10. But all in regular size (not petite) I was finding most 8R fit over all the best but they still were not perfect and I was near tears. Then I seen this dress in petite and decided may as well try it. Being a petite I chose to order a 10p. Expected to once again have to send it back. As soon as I put this dress on I knew it was my dress! The fit was absolutely perfect everywhere, no alterations needed. I’m wearing a short 1.5” heel and even the length is perfect. The dress is stunning. I wanted some type of sleeve and this is perfect, and it’s so comfortable. Some dresses felt so heavy and weighted, this does not. It’s not scratchy or itchy at all. It is pull over (no zipper) but it slipped on perfectly. I did have my husband help me lift it back off over my head. I couldn’t be happier with this dress!

Mother of the bride

I am 5’1” 150lb and ordered the petite length, 12p. I was delighted that I didn’t have to have the dress altered or hemmed. It was worth the price and is gorgeous!

Difficult

This is a pretty dress but it is very difficult to get on & off. The style was not flattering on me and I didn't like it enough for the struggle.

Perfect for my son's wedding.

I ordered this dress as a possibility for my son's upcoming wedding. It fits perfectly! I wanted something with sleeves, but didn't want to look matronly. I did toy with the idea of returning it for one reason. I don't care for the fact that it doesn't have a zipper and has to be pulled over my head. For a dress at this price point I was surprised. But decided that I really like the dress and so did the bride, so changed my mind. Thus only four stars.

Beads fall off easily

Dress fit well, was comfortable, but the beads came off. I spent hours reattaching beads and reinforcing stitching to keep beads from falling off.

There is no zipper

I love the dress it's beautiful however trying to get it off with no zipper was very tedious trying to get back out of dress lifting straight up while you are in it! I was concerned the sequins might put a pull in the bottom part of the dress which is delicate material. For the price of $218.00 you would think the manufacturer would go for the cost of putting in a zipper for easy access in and out of a long formal gown?

A keeper

I'm very choosy about clothes, and this one was the one I ultimately chose for a black tie event. The color is rich, the silhouette is very flattering, and the fabric and make are good quality. Oddly, this didn't need any hemming once I put 3-4 inch heels on, and I'm only 5 ft tall. I was ok with it just touching the floor. Beware, other same size gowns by the same designer will feel like different sizes, though they're all well made.

Sizing

The navy is a beautiful dress. Great value. Super comfortable. Very flattering V neckline. I'm writing this review especially to help other customers with sizing, as it is so difficult to buy women's clothes on line! According to the J Kara size chart, I was between a 12P and a 14P. I ordered both and both are too big. It is a generously sized dress. I am 5'3", 38B. The length of both dresses were just touching the top of my bare feet, which would have been great with any heel.

Beautiful gown

A flattering gown, very light and easy to wear. I am returning it only because I found another JKara gown I liked even better.
