Firstly, the UV inhibitors in the lid guard against sun damage. This means you can leave your cooler out in the sun all day without worrying about the contents getting warm. This feature is essential if you spend much time outdoors, where there may be a little shade. Stays cold
Stays cold for the time I need it to. I use this cooler often for my business on very hot summer days it does the job of keep the ice, well ice. If there’s any left over, it melts but as I would expect. It’s a cooler not a freezer. I have owned 5 of these and they are by far great for the money. I have to keep replacing do you wear and tear. I definitely get my Monroe’s worth and they hold up pretty good for what they’ve been through. Sure I could spend way more but these do what I need them to and I know how long they will last.

Good and Not So Good
My left knee was replaced in early July, and I was sent home with an ice machine for icing my surgical area. The machine takes about 3/4 of a bag of ice. We had to clear my freezer to accommodate at least 2-3 bags of ice and a partial bag. This made it very inconvenient as I am used to having frozen fruit, vegetables & meat, etc. in my freezer. I was scheduled to have my right knee replaced on Nov 8, and did not want the inconvenience of clearing out my freezer, so I searched for a decent "ice cooler" for bags of ice. I admit I did not visualize what "100 quart" size was, but figured it would work, and the price was far more to my liking than what a Yeti cost. After all this was for a temporary need. The Igloo Polar Cooler (100-150 Qt) size is much larger than I visualized. We found having only 4 bags of ice in the cooler resulted in melting after 24 hours. Having 8 bags in the cooler resulted in much less melting, and seemed to be the what was needed. But, that's not realistic for the duration of recovery because starting with the 4th day the ice machine is not used around the clock, but in 1 hour intervals, and starting with day 11 it is used only as needed. Most of the ice melted in 3 of the 6 bags that were in the cooler yesterday. I can see where the cooler would be a great benefit if keeping food cold on 1-2 blocks of ice because large blocks stay frozen much longer than ice cubes in a bag. The photo shows 4 bags in the cooler. Not seen in the photo is water at the bottom that has leaked from the bags as of yesterday evening.

Love it!
Solid, cavernous, and clean looking. Perfect fit and color for the rack on the back of my Rubicon. The lock clips are a little suspect, but I'll update later if they fail. Recommended.

Large coolers
Not as big as advertised. Says 120qt and 100 qt

Hinges are junk.
I removed the chest from the box, opened the lid and it fell off. All 3 hinges were broke. The hinges are very small and are plastic. I would return it but would receive the same thing. I will make my own hinges. Pieces cut from old fire hose work great. I used this on the last Igloo chest.

Large capacity and keeps ice frozen for several days
I purchased two of these coolers when I bought a new fridge to ensure my current fridge contents didn't spoil while the new fridge was set up and was able to cool down to its operating temps. My experience with the Igloo brand with other coolers has been mixed over the years but they get high marks for this one. It is durable, has easy to use handles, a much improved latch system and overall seems more rugged than past coolers I have purchased from them. The best part is that it kept bags of ice frozen or near frozen for 5 days inside a 75 degree house and 3 days inside an up to 110 degree garage. I only opened the lid to peek to see if the ice had started to melt. On the third day for the one in the garage, the ice was just starting to melt inside the bags that I purchased them in. The one in the house was still completely solid! It took 9 days for the ice in the house to completely melt and roughly 6 for the ice in the garage to completely melt. I would definitely use this on a camping trip without hesitation. I do recommend this product.

Does not hold ice for 5 days
Does not hold ice for 5 days. Put ice in yesterday and it's already all melted in less then 24 hours. That's in my house, not even in summer heat. False advertising or no quality control...

My frozen fish thawed out in just over 24 hours. Made sure the door stayed close by taping it tight.
