These Lights Are GREAT!

These lights are super easy to install and are very bright. I installed all four of them in a bathroom and it was such an improvement. You almost need sunglasses in there now lol.

3 out of 4 ain't bad just not good

Only giving 3 stars. Because only 3 of the 4 worked. Problem is in the led driver side. Not the disk itself.

DIY friendly. 4" is smaller than you think, kindof a spotlight

First, 3 concerns: SIZE: We're remodeling several room, and had a difficult time determining what size would go where. We taped templates to the ceiling, and tried holding different lights in different locations while on a ladder. Basically we learned that 6" is kind of standard, you can't really use one per room, but you can put one in the middle of each zone in each room. The 5" are perfect for perimeter lights - we have 3 on one side of the kitchen, with a track light opposite the wafer lights. And the 3" are spotlight sized, ideal to line up several above a bookcase, trophy case, something like that. So the 4" is a bit between sizes, somewhat between the spotlight size and the 5" accent light. COLOR: Picking out color of lights is as important as paint color. If you have warm carpet, warm wood furniture, etc, a high temp light will wash out your colors, make them look greenish and sickly, cast a lot of shadows. A lot of factors in picking out light - existing colors, how much sunlight is already in the room, if it's a sleeping room (in which case you'll likely want a warmer color). I can't imagine a scenario where you want the same color in every room of the house. SAFETY: People seem to be raising safety concerns about these. Yes they're made in China, but they are ETL (similar to UL listed, an international safety standard). And some people were concerned the Wago connectors are not as safe as wire nuts. Many professionals believe they're actually safer, making a solid connection each time. But even though they're new to me too, they are approved and used widely. And the install... Was easier than suspected. It looked a little foreign at first, but actually went up no problems. Instructions are not great, translated from Chinese, but you can find help videos online. It's really straightforward. One issue was the flange is small, make sure your cut is exact if making a new cut, you may want to use a hole bit on your drill. Also it comes with a foam ring around the flange which slips around a lot, it may be easier to remove it. Finally, they're pretty bright. Make sure not to put anywhere where they shine directly on a person. We only use them for perimeter lighting. I did have concerns about LED flickering, getting hot, things like that. These seem to perform great, no issues thus far.

Brilliant Way to Light up a Room

Excellent kit, this is one of the best ways to bring in some brightness to any area of your home. These come in different color temperatures, this particular kit is the 5000k daylight kit which is closest to actual sunlight and is bright white. If you prefer a slightly warmer tone then pick up the 4000k version, or if you want something closer to yellow/amber then get the 3000k kit. If you're not super accurate with a drywall saw or have particularly tough ceilings to cut, pick up a 4-3/8" (112mm) recessed light hole saw and dust catcher bowl to make the cutouts. The grit type hole saws work great for most ceilings. You don't have a wide margin of error if cutting by hand because these lights don't have much of a bezel. Aside from a hole saw or drywall saw, all you need is a roll of 14/2 wire to install this kit. It's completely DIY friendly if you are so inclined. In this kit you get: + 12 recessed lights, each with a pre-wired power pigtail, foam gasket, and mounting tension clips + 12 hardwire boxes with power pigtails that connect to the lights on one side, and stranded wires with solder tipped ends on the inside. + 36 push-in wire connectors, you will use 3 for each light. These are packaged inside the hardwire boxes. + 1 4-3/8" (112mm) hole template + 1 Installation instruction paper The inclusion of push in wire connectors is a nice surprise and makes wiring very easy. There's nothing to wire on the light itself, as there are pre-wired pigtails on both the lights and the hardwire boxes that connect to each other simply by pushing them in and turning to lock. 14/2 NM/Romex wire is more than sufficient to connect these lights to your switches and run between lights, it's probably overkill for these LED's but that's the standard everyone uses and allows for later upgrade to more power hungry lights if ever desired. The hardwire boxes are light weight. The instructions say it is fine to leave them loose if you don't have access to studs or joists, but they do come pre-drilled with mounting holes and it shouldn't be a problem to screw them down in most locations. Overall this is a fantastic kit and should add much greater usability to darker rooms. I have a friend who flips properties and he said these recessed LED kits are always one of the first things he adds to all his homes. A little time and money and great potential for easy added value to the home.
