Let there Be Light in My Shower!

I purchased this because my shower was way too dark! It was very easy to put in, but I am a handyman, but in my opinion a novice person can install this with little issue. I wired my light into the exhaust fan, so when I turn on my fan this light comes on. I found that the easiest way since the electrical is already there. Only downside is that you can't use the dimming function, but I do not use that function since I installed it for the light not the dimmable feature. I had some 3-wire left over from a project and used that to wire this light. I wired the light before I installed it. Just made it easier and cut my time down I had to spend in the attic! Wiring is simple, just match the colors and use wire connectors. Provides a template circle to draw onto the ceiling so you can cut it out. I suggest putting a hole from inside your shower and then cutting it out from attic. This allows you to avoid 2x4 boards holding up drywall. Slide light through hole and then go in attic and push down clamps to secure. Turn off power exhaust fan and remove plate from fan that allows access to wires. Find the wires that run fan and attach dark colored wire to fan wire, white to white and the ground wire to ground. The ground wire has no plastic coating on it. reattach the wire plate and you are good to go! If you use LED bulb, you can throw insulation right on light without it getting hot and being a fire hazard which would be a problem with a halogen bulb! Attractive Light

The item arrived quick, but the box was half open with no tape securing the contents. There was no template included either, but customer service was quick to email me a template - so why not put it in the box?? Installed two in the bathroom above vanity and they look nice. Two more go above the shower soon. One thing to consider is that these LEDs are 6.5 Watts each (they touch insulation in the attic), so NOT too bright. I might need to buy 4 more to ensure the bathroom is bright enough - or - update and keep the existing above-vanity light. Either way, this light gets 4 stars, could've been 5, but..., nah!

Super easy and look great!

First of all these lights look great. They're really easy to install and the trim piece just pushes right in. Light is great and I'm definitely going to get a dimmer to go with them. I removed 1 star because there is definitely not a template included even though the product page claims to have one. A 3 7/8" hole saw isn't very common so you'll probably be doing it free hand. I used the cardboard that the lights came in but the holes were about 3/16" too small. Also, the wire nuts they include are really only good for a single connection to 14 gauge wire. If you're going to daisy chain them I'd recommend using one size bigger than what is provided.

Easy to install

Works great, easy to install, less expensive than the big box stores. I use led flood bulbs in them with good results.

Nice sealed fixture if you want to use GU10 bulbs.

This is a good choice if you want to use GU10 bulbs. If you simply want a sealed LED fixture, consider one of the new pancake LED fixtures instead. They're even easier to install and can fit virtually anywhere thanks to their 1/2" thickness.

Great for remodeling, a quick and easy way to upgrade your lights.

Great for remodeling, we used it in our bathroom. We cut new holes and ran wires from an existing light to can light. A trick to keep a lot of insulation from falling down when you cut a hole in the ceiling; before you start get a vacuum cleaner that can blow air, as you finish the cut do not remove the the cutout, instead use the vacuum cleaner hose to blow the insulation back away from the hole as you slowly remove the ceiling plug you cut out. This gives you a clear hole to put the new light in and blows the insulation back into the attic instead of on the floor.

Model 90036 for my shower

I feel safe using model 90036 and will be using on top the ceiling of a damp and wet environment shower. After examining the (5" Globe Electric 90036 Bathroom Shower Dimmable Downlight) it built to be damp and water tight due to the gasket located in between the glass and the steel housing that is glued to one side and so as to get to the bulb which is (not included) three screws located around the outside light cover will need to be removed.

It's a great light fixture and was very easy to install. It doesn't come with a wire clamp for the box so you'll need that as an extra. I didn't end up using the tabs to secure it because I was right next to a joist so I removed them, which was easy, and used a #6 screw to secure it. It doesn't move and the light is plenty bright enough if you use a 50W LED which is actually 9W so it's fine to use it in this fixture rated for 35W. Very happy with it.

Not sure if its humidity / damp-proof?

Nice looking light, will install with LED bulbsin shower. The light does not have a gasket of any sorts to keep humidity out, will have to figure that out as I go if it needs something between the light and ceiling.
