It's a Dremel!

Chuck is a must-have for any of the Dremel rotary tools, as well as the flexible extension, which I find myself using almost exclusively. The chuck allows a secure, positive clamping of the bits, as well as a little more capability than the little one that simply have the locking nut that came with my tool. Very pleased with this chuck.

Best Made Dremel Chuck Available

This chuck is far superior to all of the other rotary tool chucks I've seen. It's 100% steel including the jaws where most are made of ZAMAK or aluminum. Unfortunately for me the mounting hole/threads were too small to fit my die grinder. This chuck has M7 x .75M threads and my shaft takes the larger size. It would have saved ordering and returning had this information been available - Not referenced in the Amazon nor the Dremel web sites. In keeping with Amazon's outstanding customer service, the item was easily returned and cheerfully refunded. First photo shows this chuck dimension and the second shows how to measure your tool shaft size.

Handy dandy accessory for a Dremel. I'm a fan. I got it slightly discounted, and so that's just extra cool. -- Dremels are cool, and the keyless chuck is cool. 10/10. Recommended.

This chuck is well made and does exactly what it says. But could have easy design improvements.

This chuck does exactly what it claims and is simple, but well made and it closes up precisely. I do have 2 issues with it. First- it would be nice if its capacity was maybe 5-6 mm instead of 3.3 (1/8 in) for use with small drills. Second- My Dremel 4000 came with the EZ Twist nose cap, which has a steel disc insert with flat spots which can engage the flats on the collet nut, saving having to find the little wrench. (see picture- black line & blue line.) The chuck also has flats- see red line on picture. BUT the rounded area where the flats are ground is too big in diameter to fit into the rounded part of the hole in the nose cap! Distance across the flats is not a problem - 9.75 mm on the nose cap interior- 9.57 mm on chuck, and 9.44mm (a bit sloppy) on the collet nut (your mileage may vary!) Because of this, the EZ Twist does not work with the chuck, but the design could be easily changed. MY SOLUTION- two parts- put chuck on tool (without nose cap) run the tool and carefully hold a diamond file against that shoulder to reduce its diameter. I also used a rounded diamond file to enlarge only the curved parts of the hole in the nose cap. Be Careful! Measure and test fit a lot, you can overdo it.... If Dremel would increase the size and fix the nose cap fitment this would get all 5s from me!!!!

Perfect

This was just what I was looking for. Brand was Dremel and very fast shipping. This piece gets worn after time using the wrench. Now I have a spare for when mine goes bad. Can't beat that. The pricing was very fair considering the prices at big name stores.

Fit my old model 395 & 12v. model. This is not the Chinese version. They don't fit Dremel.

This chuck works great

While holding the lock button on the dremel, thread the keyless chuck on and notice the jaws of the chuck start to close. Continuing to hold the lock button and threading the keyless chuck on will cause the three jaws to tighten against one another (or a tool if you have one inserted). Reverse the direction of threading and the jaws will open back up. (I can’t believe how many reviews I read where people we’re trying the operate the chuck in some other manner and destroyed the chuck, claiming it was seized right out of the package ???? perhaps they shouldn’t use power tools ???? )

Does the job, but not sure it's a genuine Dremel part.

The media could not be loaded. Fitted a Dremel 4000 so would probably fit other Dremel multi tools. Good piece of kit for quick change of accessories. Not convinced that it’s a genuine Dremel part as it arrived from China in non-branded packaging. So far used successfully with several Drill Bits, Grinding Stones, Bristle Brushes & Sanding Bands, Looks to be fairly robust and the machining of the internal shaft threading looks good. Accessories need to be fitted tight and fairly deep into the chuck jaws to avoid excess vibrating & oscillations when rotating at high speeds. Not sure of the quality of the metal in the small springs inside the bottom of the jaws so they might benefit from occasional lubrication to avoid rusting. Only time will tell how long it lasts. Only Gave a four star rating on account of the possible misleading Dremel branding.

If there's small price difference stick with the original...

Not much reason to hate it really. It's an original made by Dremel chuck and it works perfectly. Bit annoyed there wasn't one with the Dremel I brought, but that doesn't fault the chuck, just the marketing. Some of the knock-offs are fine, but others simply don't fit. I've had ones that worked and those which were a waste of time. If the price difference isn't huge - stick to the original.

Why aren't these standard?

Fitted to my Dremel clone and works perfectly. So much more convenient than those multiple sizes of collets. Why isn't this the standard fit?
