Beautiful set, but requires updated plumbing

My house was built in 1970 and the plumbing leaves something to be desired. Having done some recent plumbing swaps I was prepared to remove the faceplate and handle, swap out the valve cartridge, install the new faceplate and handle, swap the shower arm and head, unscrew the tub filler and screw on the new one. Done. Wrong. My tub filler was plumbed in with plastic pipe instead of the iron pipe this set requires. My rough-in valve body was wrong and needed to be swapped. The rough in that supports the shower head broke free in the wall as I was trying to unscrew the old one. What a pain. Regardless, the results are worth it. The handle design makes it much easier for my kids to operate than the pull-out valve we used to use. Delta replacement parts are available so when the cartridge fails we can replace it and be back up and running. The finish and design are both very nice. Be sure of what you're getting into prior to jumping on this, but the quality is there.

It does not like hard water

I waited for a while to review this. When I first installed it, I thought it was a wee bit complicated to install compared to most shower faucet sets, but nothing terrible. It definitely worked quite well. It had nice pressure. I was ready to give it 5 stars, but I decided I'd give it some time with my hard water to see how it handles it. Well, in a word, poorly. Yes, you can wipe away the buildup that happens on the very surface, but the holes get clogged deeper than that. I have to take a stainless needle and rummage around every week or so or it sprays water sideways or just gets entirely clogged. When it is working well, it works great. However, it is definitely high maintenance if you have hard water. My previous shower head had more holes than this, and it didn't seem to need quite as much cleaning to keep it working properly. The previous shower and faucet set cost about 1/2 what this does.

Beautiful fixture but not so easy to install

So, I already had Delta fixtures and you would think the installation would be simple. As far as the mixer and shower head went, it was easy enough. A couple issues with the old hardware but nothing as a result of the parts in the kit. The real problem arise with the downspout. The instructions talk about using a universal adapter but even though it talks about using one for installation there is no way you will be able to. The plunger that starts the shower is set so far back on the downspout that a universal adapter will not work. Sadly the people who installed my previous fixtures used the universal adapter and soldered it to the pipe instead of threading the pipe to screw it on and off. So, what should have been a simple installation turned into a weekend of sawing off the adapter, soldering on a new fitting to thread onto, and then it was ready for use. My number one advice, check your existing downspout, if it has a universal adapter this will not work with that and if you really want to use this then you will need to plan ahead to replace that adapter. Other than the installation becoming more difficult than expected, I have Ben extremely happy with the fixture. The ability to set the temp and just turn off and on, never having to search for the right temp is great with kids. The shower head pause function works amazingly and you have quite a few options for how the water sprays. Honestly, this is a wonderful fixture set with some amazing features. You just really need to consider how your system is setup now to plan ahead. P.S. - If you don't have Delta then you absolutely need to consider what it will take because it uses a specific Delta mixer for behind the wall. My setup already had it installed but you will want to look at the instructions and your current setup to determine if it is right for you and whether you will need an experienced plumber to replace any parts behind the wall.

Double Check What You're Replacing First

I made the sad mistake of not double-checking how my previous spout was plumbed; sadly, this one won't work as a replacement without the assistance of a plumber. Everything looks to be the same excellent quality you'd expect from Delta and the directions seem pretty straightforward and easy to follow. The spout was the main reason I was looking to replace what we have. I was trying to go from a Moen to a Delta and the Delta screws into the back of the spout and not the front like the Moen I was replacing. Lesson learned, always check that what you're replacing will work with the replacement you order. Still love Delta, would have loved this set in our bathroom, but I ignorantly didn't check first.

Love the look

I love the color of this Delta shower tub and faucet set. The install was straightforward,but the shower head needed a small paint touchup unfortunately. At this price that should not have been needed, so the qaulity is just okay on this one. I do love the look of everything once installed though.

Superb Quality

The quality of these out of the box was apparent. I love this matte black finish. I can't wait to change out more components in our bathrooms going forward, need to do the tub drains, vent covers, and hopefully sink faucets. In particular, the handle on this feels super luxurious. The head sprays in a refreshing shower. Delta doesn't disappoint, great product.

BEAUTIFUL fixtures

We are renovating our house and were so happy to include this shower / bath faucet set in our shower. The items feel very high quality and are made from metal (not plastic). The look is the perfect blend of modern and traditional. The shower head has a nice selection of flow options with varying spray patterns. I specifically love how you can set your preferred temp and just turn the shower on/off.

Pipes don’t match up to 25 yr old pipes

We installed the shower head no problem, but when it came to the water controls, we opted not to update those because our 25yr old pipes didn’t match up, and we’d have hd to call a plumber to sweat in new pipes. I thought it would be a quick switch but it wasn’t. Set looks nice. Just wish we could have used it all.
