I had purchased the latest corona looper with the aluminum handles from a big box store. The quality was poor. These are superior with hickory handles. I purchased three different sizes. Do not through your money away on the corona tools with aluminum handles.

Longer handles make for better leverage.
After using my old pair for 30 years, it was a real treat to use these. Good balance and very sharp. The longer handles gave better leverage. Excellent product.

This has proven perfect for me when brushing trails—the short handles allow easy carrying when hiking into a problem area, but enough leverage and reach to do their job well. Wooden handles are a plus, allowing easy replacement if one ever breaks.

I managed to buy the 22" for just under $25 back in June. I see the price is markedly higher now. To start, it's not worth the $25. I'm a gardener by trade, not hobby, and on day one I was so disappointed in this lopper's performance. It could barely handle a 1.5" branch on a low-medium density hardwood (redbud) without the handles flexing to an uncomfortable degree. The blade seemed sharp enough, so I assume there's a major loss of power transfer somewhere. I had an easier time using my hand pruners for 1" branches. I've used Corona for years and have recommended their products, but this particular tool is just worthless and just sits in my truck in case I'm desperate for a backup. I should have refrained from being charmed by the wood handles and just stayed with fiberglass. Lesson learned. Save your dollars. If I had spent $60, I would have been livid.

Not as well made
The purchase arrived as scheduled. The lopper I received does not look as refined as it is shown on the web site. The old one I had for the last 36 years could continue to serve me if one of the handle did not fracture.

rust too quiclky when poorly maintained
I left these outside against my apple tree. After two weeks with several days of rain there was some rust on the metal. I had to bring them in my garden shed and scrub the rust off and oil them.
