I actually really like this. When I saw the measurements I knew this was exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't looking for a TV stand, but a riser for my laptop. I'm a bit of a improviser who likes to find multiple ways to use something. Boring background: My laptop keyboard went crazy, and I was too lazy to take it into a store to get a fixed. In all likelihood they would steal my computer for 2 weeks, and send it back to me then, which as an avid writer I did not have the patience for. I've been using an external keyboard, which has a lousy cord, so when I put in a USB port, it's hard to get it to register with the laptop. It will keep making a funky beeping sound as it connects and disconnects. I have to fractionally move it before it gets the right spot and stays in. It's annoying to sit there for 5 minutes to do this, so I need an area to set the keyboard, but also keep my laptop eye-level. This little stand does the job perfectly. Contents: I honestly would have preferred if the screws were not plastic. I doubt it would have cost that much more to make it of a more sturdy material. It does the job, though. You really don't need more than that, so I suppose that is the reasoning. Still, it would just give me a little more peace of mind if the screws themselves were stronger. Assembly: It took me exactly 12 minutes. I wasn't even going fast. The instruction sheet is one page, and honestly, if it hadn't come with one, you could have figured out what to do with just 1 minute of thinking. If you set the bottom shelf on the floor with the screws, they won't stay in because the swivel at the bottom will elevate it from the floor. You can use the small pieces of Styrofoam that comes with as cushion to insert under the screw holes to keep the screws in at the same time while you twist the poles on. It's a little pet peeve of mine to have it all ready at once. The instructions sheet says not to over-tighten anything. I will emphasize that as well. When you're feeling resistance, tighten it just a tiny bit more and leave it at that. Don't come to the point of forcing it to move it more. You'll damage the wood and the screw, and even with high-end products this is possible. Product: I love it. This was actually going to be a 4 star, because of the plastic screws thing, but it's really not that big of a deal, so I'll go with 5. I have a big head and a pencil neck, so I feel I have more neck problems than most people. There is always pain in my neck. Every night I have to sleep with a heat pad to my neck so that I don't wake up with pain. I do a lot of desk work, which means a lot of staring down at the screen. Standing can help if the laptop is high enough, but beyond a few hours my feet will begin to die, and I won't feel comfortable to focus well. I move around often, and this stand makes it incredibly easy to do so. I basically use it as a portable desk around the house. At 9" tall, my hands can comfortably work below on the keyboard without hitting the "ceiling", while I stare at the top shelf, which keeps my laptop at eye-level to save me neck pain. I don't have all of the most convenient furniture in the world, so while I sit on a low couch, I set this "stand" on a tall chair-stool that is half the side of the stand, and work away. Keep in mind, that you get exactly what you pay for. It is not very robust. A few drops, and I imagine you'll see chipping, and some loosening screws or poles. I don't think the product itself was packaged that well. The poles fell out of their wraps before the box was opened, and also could be heard moving around everywhere in the box. No real complaints there though when nothing was chipped. I'm just so happy to be able to start working again because of this "desk".
