Hi. I was introduced to Papyrus cards a number of years ago when I worked one block away from a Papyrus card shop in downtown Boston. The first time I visited the shop I was thrilled by the beauty, quality, and imagination that went into the cards I saw. I was very happy, and grateful, that I had discovered a resource for such, exquisitely made, high quality cards, that I could share with others. From then on, stopping in at Papyrus to see “what’s happening/what’s new” became a fun way to spend my lunch time. Since that introduction, I’ve been smitten by the high quality, and range, of Papyrus’ products. I have purchased all manner of their cards (birthday, anniversary, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, romance, thank you, sympathy, and “blank” ) and every one has been the perfect card for the occasion. Simply put, I am a big fan of Papyrus and their wonderful cards. I have recently discovered that they are available thru Amazon and I have since ordered a number of them. While I wrote this introduction with the group of new cards I recently ordered in mind, my card specific review of this beautiful “Holiday and New Year” card follows. This beautiful, and innovative card, is a functional diorama that includes hanging, movable, snowflakes. Accordion style folds along the top and bottom edges allow the card to expand (front to back) and provide depth for its winter scene. The picture has a snowy, pearlescent, background “sky” that adds to the tableau’s illusion of depth and gives the buildings and trees in the foreground additional dimension and visual “pop”. The scene is filled with detail(s), textures, and color accents that please the eye and showcase the talent of Papyrus’ creative, imaginative, and talented designers. This 5”x7” card is made with high quality card stock and the envelope’s paper stock is thinner but equally high quality. The company’s name is tastefully embossed on the envelope flap. As with all Papyrus cards, a gold foil, self-adhesive, hummingbird envelope seal and a 3.25” x 4.25” “sentiment card” are included with the card’s purchase. In addition to letting you know what is printed inside the card, the “sentiment card” also serves to protect the face of the card when it is slid into the envelope. Simply hold the sentiment card over the face of the card while sliding it into the envelope and remove it when done. It is a simple thing to do that makes preparing the card for mailing easier; Thank you, Papyrus! One final thing I want to mention is that I have found that the paper(s) that Papyrus use for their cards and envelopes are all user friendly and accept ballpoint pens, rollerball pens, fine point markers and even fountain pens, with zero fuss. I’ve had excellent luck with their paper and have not experienced feathery, blurry, spreading lines or “bleed through” with any of my writing instruments. They all work well …. The takeaway …. This Papyrus “Holiday and New Year” winter scene diorama card is a visual treat and, guaranteed, will be a special card to receive.
