This is the only choice in this price range for an anti shock cane, so that makes it a very good value. It is not the lightest, nor does it collapse into the shortest length, but it is sturdy. Sometimes it does come out of the anti shock setting just in use, and you have to give it a quick twist to get back to it, though with time, I hope it doesn't do it all the time. That can become annoying in everyday use, which happened to my Komperdell Walker AS over time, and why I went looking for another, since they were discontinued. The next higher in price and another only choice in that range, is the Wrzbest JungleLeopard anti shock cane on Amazon, which is lighter in weight, and collapses to a much shorter overall length. That one does not have an on and off mechanism for the anti shock-it is on all the time. Which can be a very good thing, since you don't have to fool with it anytime because it goes out by itself like the Chinook does. Don't get me wrong, this is a good, serviceable cane at a good price, if you don't need the lightest in weight, or the shortest in collapsed dimensions for travel. The other difference is the handle is a bit bulkier, and longer, and rougher in texture. They also put some ridges in the vertical front side for more traction, apparently, though I don't think that it was necessary, and the composite cork handle is more coarse in texture as well. If you are sensitive to touch, you may find this grip a little harsh, as I do, but many will not have that issue, I am sure. This is, for me, a very good at home cane, or even a good shopping cane to take to the stores, without much investment or worry about how it survives during shopping trips, etc. What I take on the trail in the woods, will most likely be different, when there is a choice. Updated to add: I now, after a few months of daily use, greatly prefer the Wrzbest JungleLeopard antishock cane that is also sold here on Amazon, though it is out of stock right now, and just a bit more in price when in stock. I would hold out for it to come back in stock if possible, or look for it elsewhere for it, as a first choice. It is just lighter enough while being very sturdy, and very comfortable in the hand with a slightly smaller grip, and is preferable unless you have very large hands, possibly. For average Men's and Women's hands, it will feel better and perform reliably, making it a favorite for me in everyday use. UPDATE 8/22 I have been using this around the house now for about a year full time, since my favorite (Wrzbest JungleLeopard) cane's cork handle started to come loose around the bottom where it attaches to the cane. So I started using the Chinook cane again daily. Just recently the cork handle started to get a hole in the top side of the grip, so I just got out the duct tape and now the handle is not as nice or comfortable, but it still works. You still can't beat the price of this cane on Amazon though, so it's still a viable option, with a little larger cork handle than most, that I find more comfortable than some smaller ones. The anti shock still keeps slipping out of lock, so you need to reset it often, but that's not hard, just a quick turn of the handle while holding the shaft, and it's good to go again. Hopefully they have improved on that feature, but maybe not, it's been a couple of years since I bought mine. This is a sturdy, inexpensive anti shock cane, good for home or shopping, or walks if you don't mind that it's not the lightest around. But it probably is the cheapest you can buy that works. Good quality replacement tips will cost you almost as much as this cane (for a pair of Leki tips), but beware of the generic imitators that do not use enough rubber to have traction on vinyl or highly polished slippery floors, especially when it's wet out! I have tried a few, but now will only buy Leki's for safety's sake. They're out of stock here now but can be found online. Komperdell brand should be good too if they fit this cane.
