Aspheric? Gesundheit!

I had to send the first one back for an exchange, as the LEDs did not work at all. The second unit worked fine. I'd really like to rate this 2 1/2 stars for MEH, because of that, I also wish the lens was bigger, as the field of view is very limited if you want to use this for reading. It's perfect for close inspections though. And while they make a big deal about their lens design, it still distorts images around the edges, badly. It does work for what it is intended for, so I'll round up to 3 stars

Carson CP-32 9x Aspheric Lens LED Lighted Magnifier....

I use this to view coins and it has worked good for me. The light still functions after a few months of use and does come in handy. I didn't give it a 5 star because of the plastic housing, it feels a kinda cheap. It's probably a little overpriced, but, overall I've been happy with it.

Excellent lens quality, but slightly fragile battery cover

I have purchased several of these magnifiers over the past few years, as I now keep one in almost every room. Having been legally bling for over forty years, I have tried a myriad of magnifiers. This is by far the best! The lens quality is excellent! The light is bright and angled just right. It dims when the batteries are low, which is not often. I do not use the attached neck string, and thus have a habit of dropping it from time to time. The lens has never broken, however the cover to the battery compartment typically pops open. Thereafter, the cover will go back in place, but not as securely. I end up needing a rubber band to hold it in place.

I bought this for my mother-in-law who has macular degeneration. I originally bought the 9-power magnifier, but the field of view was so narrow that she couldn't view entire words, only segments, and had to assemble the words in her head. She also has slight cognitive impairment which complicated the problem. So I returned the 9x for the 7x lens, and she LOVES it. I would only recommend that the manufacturer modify the switch lever to add a ridge to make operation easier for those with weaker hands. I will probably epoxy a thumb ridge on this one. Minor problem...still 5 stars.

Convenient but distorted lens

This magnifying glass is compact and easy to hold. The two lights are very convenient. The problems I found are that there is significant distortion in the lens that causes a wavy appearance to what I look at and the lens is a little too small.

Works as advertised

This magnifier works well as advertised. With this type of lens, you must be able to get very close to the object and it has a small viewing area. As veterinarian, I use it for examining small ticks, moles, skin lesions, etc.. The LED light is great and essential, depending upon your object and lighting conditions. The other flashlight is just nice to have. The size is easy to handle and protects the lens well. It comes with a string to hang it up or a carrying case to keep it clean. If you want a larger viewing area from more of a distance (i.e. for reading small print), you might want to try a different model.

not as described, poor quality

The item didn't come with a case - it rather came with a flimsy pouch (see pic) that offers zero impact protection. Plus, the lens is not glass - is cheap acrylic. Not recommending it whatsoever.

Works great

I’m visually impaired. I’ve bought a similar product from CNIB for reading and this magnifier is far better and less expensive. I’m on my second one and just love it!!!

Superior to product sold by CNIB

This is an aspheric magnifier to assist people with low vision and especially those with macular degeneration. I mention this because of reviews that say that the lens is too small; it has to be this small otherwise it would not be able to magnify x7. We've relied on Carson magnifiers that are more affordable and a much better quality than those sold by the Canadian Institute for the Blind (CNIB). This magnifier comes with a built in flashlight and the switch is easy to operate and durable.

Light magnifier for working in tight dark spaces like camera bodies.

This device was delivered promptly in perfect condition. It works adequately for its purpose but does not give me light in the way I need it so I'm still looking. The price was right for this little light. It has a flashlight on the end which works brightly.
