Beautiful chandelier, but likely to arrive damaged

IN A NUTSHELL Beautiful chandelier, but thoughtless packaging means you have a good chance of getting a cracked unit. Nonetheless, it's fixable and I would buy again. EXPLANATION On the first chandelier I received, all 4 spokes on the top of the metal frame had snapped apart, making the chandelier unhangable. I thought it was a fluke, so I contacted Amazon and a replacement was sent. Unfortunately, this one was also snapped in the exact same location. Looking through the reviews on Amazon and other websites, I saw other customers had the same problem. I realized the reason for the snapping was improper packaging from Canarm. The metal frame is a couple inches taller than the fabric drum, so in the box, there is a 2 inch gap between the top of the drum and the top of the frame. There should be a piece of styrofoam between the two to cushion the top of the frame, but apparently that obvious solution escaped Canarm. As a result, stacking anything on top of the box (which definitely happens when shipping) would easily cause the top of the metal frame to snap. After realizing this, I concluded it made little sense to request a third chandelier because it would likely be snapped. Exhausted by our chandelier search, we took a discount for the damaged chandelier from Amazon and decided to try to fix the frame. To repair the frame, we first tried soldering. This worked temporarily, but the metal did not solder like typical metal, and it re-snapped when we tried to install the chandelier. We then tried epoxy glue, and this worked, so that's our recommendation for fixing the snaps (see second photo). I should also note that as long as all 4 spokes are not cracked, you can probably hang the lamp without fixing the frame as the weight of the lamp is supported through the central rod that runs the height of the lamp. That being said, we felt unsafe without fixing the snapped spokes. Once fixed, installation was relatively straightforward and took a few hours. SO, after all that hassle what do I think of the actual chandelier? The chandelier is absolutely lovely and I'm really glad we decided to keep it. The metal frame lends a traditional feel to the chandelier, while the fabric drum and overlapping curved design of the frame modernize it, yielding a great transitional piece. I originally considered theTroy 28954967 Five Light Silver Gold Drum Shade Pendant , but this is an excellent and drastically more affordable alternative. In terms of lighting, 3 bulbs was sufficient light for our space and the fabric shade and glass diffuser softened the light. Some people commented that the chandelier was bigger than expected, but it was a great size for our space. Tip: To help determine an appropriate chandelier size, add the length and width of your space and covert to inches. Our room is ~10x14 ft, so it could carry up to a 24" diameter chandelier. This 20.5" chandelier fit perfectly. We paired the chandelier with 3Kobi Electric K0M9 15-watt (75-Watt) A19 LED 4000K Neutral White Light Bulb, Dimmable (chose neutral 4000k because 2700-3000 soft white feels too dim and yellow to me, but 5000k daylight is too harsh for a dining room), and2gig WD500Z-1 Z-Wave Wall Dimmer (White) . Everything works seamlessly. Overall, this chandelier was a bit of a hassle, but I'm glad we stuck with it. It fits our space well and looks far more expensive than the ~$100 we spent.on it. 5 stars for the lamp, -2 stars for the packaging defect and subsequent hassle.

Well made, pretty fixture, great price

When the light arrived I thought it looked very large. However, once it was in place it looked to be the perfect scale. I put it in my Master Bedroom which has a 10 ft. ceiling. It replaced the ceiling fan/light fixture. I had it installed by an electrician ($40). I am glad that I did because the ceiling fan box had to be modified to accommodate the light fixture. He had to drill a hole and add screws. A simple procedure for him. He only used 3 links of the chain which attaches to the approx. 4 inch long rod with a ring on the top of the fixture. I love it. It looks well made and stylish. The diffuser on the bottom hides the light bulbs nicely. A very nice fixture for a great price. I would expect it to be much more expensive. I'm thrilled.

Super Tag those wires please! Great fixture.

Light itself is great, looks like a very expensive fixture but as we all know you can't beat the Amazon price. Had to deduct a star because although the lines are tagged - the tags fell off on installation. The wires on this fixture are the same color, leaving us questioning which was the ground wire??? Oh dear, after 2 nights of wondering if we did it correctly, my husband found a way to determine the ground by a ridge on the wire. All was fine, but color coding the wires sure would've been helpful. Otherwise - love the light, the bottom has a full cover which is what I wanted for our playroom (that was a dining room). Could easily convert back with this light.

It's beautiful but it needs better installation instructions!

I love this light! My wife and I purchased it for our living room and it fits in great. The included chain is roughly 5 feet, but we trimmed it to 2 chains to fit our room's need. You are able to install halogen, cfl and led bulbs (I tried all 3 types) and you are able to dim the lights. My one complaint is the instructions included with the lamp are generic for the company and because of this it took me 2 hours to install because the instructions were out of order. This lead to me having to thread the electrical lines 3 times! The product itself is great and I recommend it, just have patience when trying to install it!

Odd Finish - Not Exactly Oil Rubbed Bronze

Very pretty chandelier. Photo shows it hanging over a 38” x 60” table with the lights on (three 100w bulbs). I wouldn’t call the finish oil rubbed bronze. It’s more of a dark chocolate brown with a copper colored glitter/sparkle. You don’t really notice the “sparkle” unless you’re right up on it and the light catches it. We previously had a five bulb open chandelier, so this one definitely puts out less light...will take some getting used to.

3rd time a charm! Arrives damaged, now on order #3. If we hadn't purchased the smaller version we would give up. Love the light though. Not sure packaging manufacturer defect. Smaller version arrived intact.
