Worth the money

Bought for husband for his work/machinist. Can't go wrong buying Brown and Sharpe!

A really great piece of tooling. very happy with it.

For 14 years I have used an electric contact style edge finder. This last year it has become more and more unreliable. This mechanical edge finder is perfect.

Perfect edge finder for a quiet but poorly lit hobbyist shop

This edge finder is purely mechanical and is virtually identical to the traditional edge finder that kicks out at the precise moment when the edge of the part is lined up—the only difference being that they have ground a small flat on one side of the head, so at the moment it kicks out it makes a "tick-tick-tick" sound against the workpiece. Set it to 1000rpm and it works like a charm, as long as your shop isn't too noisy. You can now look at the DRO display as you close in on the edge, listening for the clicking noise.

went from a cheap SPI brand edge finder to this and I'm very pleased with it. Brown & Sharp never disappoints. In addition to being B&S this is in fact an "Audible" edge finder. Meaning once you are exactly over the edge and the head "shifts" over its a very crisp motion so there is no guessing and it will make a clicking sound as well. I always go 1250 RPM and at least 3/4 of the tip deep when edge finding. Price is great for what you are getting. Need to find a nice wooden box for this so it doesn't get damaged in my tool box

It's a brown & sharpe! Expect always the best Great material I had it for over 3 years I still use it It has a little flat on the .200 diameter but that's to make a little flapping noise when the tip jumps.

I'm not impressed. There is not enough sound to hear well and it is not repeatable with precision. It works as a visual wiggler so I did give it an extra star. Also seems solid and well made/ground. I will not buy another.
