Tamping titan

This tamper plate is all beef. The shank (sold separately) seems like a cannon artillery round--serious steel. Note the plate I received measures 8x8 vs.8x6 in description--no complaints here. On my Makita HM1810X3 70 Lb. AVT breaker hammer, this thing tamps/compacts extremely well and even pulverizes small chunks of concrete. While one probably shouldn't get too excited about a tool that weighs 100-lbs, it's a pleasure to use and I'm delighted to have this on my truck. No more wasting time and money renting--let alone wondering if a rental company has all the accessories (like this tamper plate) available. Great accessory and highly recommended when something less than a jumping jack compactor is needed.

A good purchase for occasional use

I bought this along with the 1 1/8-in. shank to compact the soil and gravel base for concrete jobs. I use it with my Bosch Brute. It works great for the occasional small jobs that I do. At $150 for the two tools, it has been money well-spent. If I specialized in concrete work and needed to compact soil and gravel on a regular basis, I'd invest in a vibratory plate compactor, which requires a lot less physical exertion to operate.

Does not move as easily as jumping foot

Used for tamping curbs forms. Worked as expected. Does not move as easily as jumping foot, but gets the job done with one less tool carry

This will not fit the Bosch part HS2173, I bought a boat anchor!!!!!

Just a note ...

Under Technical Details, it says that it weighs 4.3 pounds. It in fact weighs 16 pounds, which is a good thing.
