Not exactly 1 cup.

First off, love this thing and I've wanted one for years! I finally got one! It fits perfectly where I wanted to keep my rice. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it says it dispenses one cup of rice for every one push of the lever. While that is kind of true, it is not a true one cup. (see pics) It does fill up the little cup they provide you, but if you use any other measuring cup, it doesn't fill it. Now, to be fair, it does dispense the same amount every time, just know you'll have to adjust for the difference. I honestly just use the finger method for measuring water (water up to the first knuckle on your index finger as your finger tip is touching the rice in the rice cooker) and it's perfect every time!

Quick & Easy

I love this rice storage container/ measuring unit! It keeps the rice fresh, neat, no more bag sitting around, and measures 1 cup with the flip of a switch! I cannot live without this now!

I love it!! It looks great on a counter, makes getting rice so much easier and cleaner. Before I just kept the rice in its sack and always made a mess when getting some. It works really well and its good quality

Wish I owned this item 25 years ago!

I had a great childhood. My Dad was career Navy and my wonderful Mom stayed at home and loved and cared for her three kids. I grew up believing that the only rice was Minute Rice. As an adult I met the second most wonderful woman I’ve ever met (right behind Mom). Twenty six years ago I married this wonderful woman, June. June was born in Viet Nam and she quickly opened my eyes to the world of rice. For all these years, there was always a one-cup measuring cup inside the bag of rice. I didn’t know these storage devices existed. Wow...just like I missed out on the wonders of rice until June showed me there were options other than Minute Rice, I also missed out on the ease of use and value of this storage and measuring device. This thing is great. No more time spent bent over the 50 lb bag of rice in the pantry, scooping rice one cup at a time and making sure each scoop is a level scoop. Knowing that if my scoops are heaping, I won’t add the right amount of water to the rice cooker and my rice will be dry. Or if my scoops are less than full, then my rice will turn out soggy. Since having this wonderful item, the rice I make has been perfect every time. One easy push of the lever sends exactly one cup of rice into the container. Each subsequent push adds an additional cup. So easy to use. And now I’m as good at making rice as my wife. Yay! This item is great and so easy to use. An attractive way to store rice. We keep ours on the counter top. And makes inaccurate measurement of rice impossible. Buy this and your cooked rice will always be accurately measured and thus, will always come out perfectly cooked. Highly recommend.

PERFECT ASIAN RICE COOKER COMPANION

Hi hated going to my pantry opening a giant sack of rice and trying to perfectly measure my rice with the cup that was included in my rice maker. The Japanese use a different sized cup than in the US, so you must use theirs if you want accurate measurements in your cooker. Anyone who already has a Japanese or other Asian rice cooker knows this. I've tested the lever on this machine 10 times, and 10 times it measured the perfect amount of rice to fill a Japanese cup! Also, it holds over two giant bags of rice. So glad I got it. In fact, I just ordered another one for my jasmine rice. Highly recommended!

Dispenses rice without any drama, what more could you want?

It does what it's supposed to do, really convenient for buying 20lbs bags of rice (a 20lb bag will just barely fit). For long grain white rice the 1 cup dispenser doesn't really seem to be very close to one cup, more like 115g (vs expected 180g), but it is at least consistent.

Overall, it’s an ok item, there is still a lot of room for quality and functionality upgrade.

We bought it to store rice and it fits inside the pantry perfectly, however as we were filling it up the transparent grey plastic broke! As an asian that eats rice as staple and have had varieties of rice dispensers my whole life, i was disappointed especially with it’s price point and such a mediocre quality. but good thing my dad glued it up since we didn’t want to bother returning it in the middle of the pandemic. It still works well after being glued, so i took 1 star off because it broke.

Nifty

I'm sad, because I'm out of rice at the moment, but this makes rice so easy - I need to buy it in bulk. I push a button, throw it in the instant pot, put the right amount of water in (I can eyeball it now, but it does change depending on what kind of rice you use), push a couple buttons, and I have yummy food.

Not recommended for Larger food sizes then what it’s made for

I am using it for dog food, it works but not perfectly. It doesn’t dispense a perfect amount, probably due to the larger shape of the dog food size. Also thought I would fit a large bag of dog food, it doesn’t sadly. Workable enough that I will continue to use it.
