This filter is attached in addition to a whole house tank filter. The large filter, however, does not take care of the iron issue we have in NJ. The Aqua-Pure does. We change it twice a year and it provides economical protection from red stains on our white plumbing fixtures, something the previous owner of this property fight a losing battle.
